Chapter 5

It was the day of the countdown to one million even though the week before had been a little bumpy with the MacDonalds situation, people sort of forgot about it and somehow she was at 999,950 followers she was so close and the numbers were going up like crazy, everyone wanted to be in on the giveaway and everything was amazing.
  Lindsey started livestreaming that day talking about how thankful she was to have gotten to this point and that she couldn't have done it without her followers, everyone was enjoying the day until suddenly something came up on her livestream, someone commented a link that they said to press on....then when she ignored it they kept spamming it. When she eventually pressed on it, it shared her screen with everyone else on the livestream... hundreds of thousands of people who were watching could see her screen, she should've never touched the link because it brought everyone to a picture of Lindsey and her mom standing outside there flat beside a sign that said SOLD. It was the day they were moving into their new house and they were so happy, but the comments were going crazy now saying " Wait WHAT, YOU LIVE THERE... you're house is about 10x smaller then any average persons house and for someone who receives as much money as you do I'm surprised you don't live somewhere nicer". Lindsey just smiled and quickly ended the live. Then she lay down on her bed and for the next 3 hours of her day she cried

   ...Who was this person?? She thought maybe they were someone trying to make money off of exposing her, or were they just taking pleasure out of humiliating her in front of everyone.

   The Next day she had school, and she realised who her real  friends were, 75% of her friends just ignored her completely and the girls she usually sat with during lunch ditched her and didn't let her sit with them, finally her bff Becky saw her and ran straight up to her to talk "Hi don't worry I'll never ditch you just because you don't have as much money as other people!" Becky smiled at her and Lindsey instantly knew that Becky was her true friend and not just there to be included in vlogs or get free things, "But Becky, I know they dislike me now because I'm not rich but why are they acting, I don't know, like I've -" but Becky interrupted her "Lied ..like you've lied for the last 8 years you lived here that your dad is a millionaire and everything, and 8 years later, it's like people are just finding out who you really are?. Well then yeah I can understand why they're acting weird.". Lindsey didn't know how to respond, she was right, everything everyone knew about her was one huge lie that had been built on to all these years, Lindsey whispered“ Becky... I understand if you don't believe me... But my dad is a millionaire, we just don't live with him or have any of his money... because my dad is...Dave Roberts!”.
  
  Becky stared at her in excitement but also slight disbelief...“Dave Roberts” she whispered “is your dad are you serious!? Oh my god this is amazing, but didn't he become a serious alcoholic?", Thinking about this made Lindsey feel really disappointed and she nodded, and Becky realised why they lived in a small house because they moved out to get away from him. “Oh, okay I understand now, I won't tell anyone, I swear now c'mon bestie let's go to our last class together, we both have home ec in like 5 minutes so we better hurry”
       They rushed off to class together and Lindsey didn't suddenly didn't care about how many followers and friends she lost, she was just thankful for a real best friend who stuck by her no matter what.
