melodie huffed, puffed and squealed as her iphone alarm woke her up at what felt like the dawn of time when it was really 8:35 in the morning. suddenly remembering what day it was, melodie didn't seem so huffy and puffy when she saw that it was the day of her abba cover being uploaded to her youtube channel after teasing it on her instagram reels. unattractively sliding out of her bed, melodie stretched and squealed again before leaving her room to go downstairs for some breakfast and maybe some conversations with the older man and woman from last night, maybe not her siblings considering they had all gone back to their own homes the night before. that is with the exception of maybe shane, gillian and their three kids since they did tend to stay overnight if the family had been invited over for dinner.

however, before melodie moved into the kitchen from breakfast, with her phone in her hand and her airpods, she plonked herself hidden away in one of the many backrooms of the house and watched tiktoks. going through the instagram posts that were posted throughout the night that she missed as well as other little things she may have missed. she had been so self-absorbed in her phone that she lost track of time for so long that breakfast had come and gone by the flash of a light. it was now creeping on lunch when melodie's stomach rumbled rather aggressively, letting her know that it was now seriously time for her to eat something.

melodie had barely even walked into the kitchen when she suddenly heard her older brother liam's voice, "melodie, [...] has said you've been looking to move out and get a house of your own so...when is it that you'll finally leave this old house?" shocked that he hadn't gone back home with his partner and kids the night before, melodie stuttered back in shock at her brother's quite invasive question

"umm, i--"

"--liam! leave your sister alone...and i thought you went home after dinner last night so why are you still here?" before melodie could even conjure up a response, shane had come out from his hiding spot and told off their brother liam who rolled his eyes in response

huffing, the older brother responded, "i did go home after dinner last night, did you think to check what the time is, smartarse?" shane followed his older brother's finger that was pointing at the microwave clock: 12:40pm

with wide eyes, shane spoke up, "oh shit, was i really asleep for that long?" he almost whispered to himself as melodie stifled a giggle, shaking her head

"i appreciate you trying to defend me shay but, i'm a big girl now and i can take care of myself. so, liam, in response to your question, it is quite literally none of your business and it's rude to ask about my living situation, even though you're my brother! i literally don't owe you any kind of response to that question so the fact i'm even lecturing you about this is quite frankly embarrassing," melodie huffed, both brothers shocked that their younger sister stood up for herself

shane was pleasantly shocked and found the entire encounter utterly hilarious. whereas liam, the brother that asked the question, was completely horrified that he had just been told off like that by his younger sister.

huffing once again, liam nodded his head, "got it, won't ever mention it again small one. i'll leave you and shane alone," liam trailed off awkwardly as he walked out of the kitchen leaving just shane and melodie to grab themselves some food

the two younger siblings ate their brunch mostly in silence until shane broke the silence, "melodie, even though liam totally had no right to ask, how is the house hunting coming along?" melodie smiled at her older brother's choice of words in comparison to liam's
