chapter four. the babysitter's back ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Entering the Stilinski house, Dani walked alongside Scott and Stiles up to the boy's bedroom.
"You can just sit down, Dani. I'm gonna go get the first aid kit," Stiles announced, looking to his right. "Scott? Keep an eye on her?"
Scott nodded solemnly, Dani taking a seat on the edge of Stiles's bed and attempting to remove her jacket with a wince.
"Do you need help?" Scott rushed over, although Dani shook her head.
"No, I've got it," she replied as she tugged the sleeve off of her arm daintily, setting it aside.
Scott eyed the wound on her arm warily, Dani raising her head to him. "Looks pretty nasty, doesn't it?"
He grimaced, hesitating for a moment before taking a seat on the bed beside Dani.
"Can I...?" Scott gestured to her arm, Dani offering it over. He held it gently, the fingertips of his other hand tracing around the wound. She felt a tingle down her spine, Scott's touch raising involuntary goosebumps on her arm.
"So what happens now?" Dani questioned, looking up at him. "Am I gonna turn into a werewolf or something?"
Though she was joking as she said it, Scott's face looked deadly serious. Dani's smile faded, growing alarmed.
"Scott?" She stared at him with wide eyes. "I-I'm not going to turn into a werewolf, right?"
Before he could answer, Stiles burst into his bedroom with a first aid kit. "Found it," he announced, sounding somewhat proud of himself.
Dani withdrew her arm from Scott as he stood, looking up at Stiles. "Am I gonna turn into a fucking werewolf?"
Stiles paused, his mouth agape. "Um..."
She looked between him and Scott, neither of them answering. "Yes or no!" she snapped, growing impatient.
"W-Well, it depends," Scott replied. "The guy that bit you, what color were his eyes?"
Dani drew in a breath, rubbing her temple as Stiles opened the first aid kit beside her. "Red."
Scott and Stiles immediately looked at one another, Dani's eyes flitting between them.
"What does that mean?"
"It means... that you were bitten by an Alpha," Scott explained, rubbing his chin with visible distress. "Only Alphas have the power to turn someone with a bite."
