TEN DAYS.

They were in this purgatory like state for ten days. For others, it a dream but for the most part, they knew, they would never, ever getting out of whatever the hell this new place was.

As for Gaia, she'd struggled. She struggled before this and struggled during this. Yet again, she would put on a smile for her son like nothing could ever be as bad as this.

She sat outside the church with the many others. Noah running around with some of the other teens. But the running around stopped, in fact, everything had stopped when the sky above suddenly turned dark.

"We asked for a sign!" Lexie shouted.

"What does it mean?"

"It doesn't mean anything!" Gordie shouted back, "It's a fucking solar eclipse. It's not a sign, it's a predictable astronomical event. Just don't stare at it and we'll be fine."

Later on, the groups dispersed, but Gaia stayed at the church with Noah, who was running around in the grass with some shitty toys some people had taken from the stores.

Gaia held her legs close to her chest as she watched her son run around. She soon heard footsteps approaching her and saw that Elle was approaching her.

She took a seat next to Gaia. She seemed upset, but Gaia wasn't going to question it unless Elle brought it up.

"How do you do it?" Elle asked.

"I don't." Gaia answered. It didn't take much to figure out what Elle was talking about or who for that matter, "I'm lucky, I guess. He's a good kid."

Noah soon ran over towards the two girls and into Gaia's arms. She smiled down at him and pull him into her lap.

Noah was as active as he could be, but again, he'd been sensitive to sound and didn't speak as much as a two year old should. Gaia figured, if he wasn't speaking verbally, she could at least teach him sign language to communicate with him whenever he wasn't speaking.

"Juice." He signed and Gaia shuffled through her bag and pulled out a juice box for him. He struggled out of her arms and continued to run around the grassy area.
