There was a rumor amongst the Danes about a Seer sent from the Gods themselves. That she had been kissed by them and left a tuft of white hair at the crown of her head. They say she could see the fate of all Dane's and that the gods spoke directly to her and gave her their powers to do their biddings.

Ragnar Ravnsson, or Ragnar the Fearless, had been the one gifted by the gods, having her by his side. Her father, Okkridottir, was one of his most loyal men and skilled warriors. Her mother had been a seer, skilled only to see the fate of the Lord she followed. When Ingrid turned of age, she did a blood oaths protect Ragnar's family. To have the Gods protect them.

That all came crashing down when Kjartan the Cruel took his revenge in the middle of the night. He had been banished from Ragnar's land after his son had cornered Ingrid and Ragnar's daughter, Thyra, in the woods and ripped their dresses down the front, leaving them exposed, when they were children. Kjartan and his men had set every home in the village ablaze, killing even the women and children. He slaughtered Ingrid's parents and killed Earl Ragnar.

Ingrid had been out in the woods, focusing on her visions when Kjartan came. How she did not see it, she did not know. She could feel all their pain and couldn't do anything to help. Uthred and Brida had taken the Seer with them on their journey to avenge their family. After learning that Uthred's Uncle, Aelfric, still ruled Bebbunberg, the man began to question everything he knew.

Ingrid had been told by the Gods she was to accompany Uthred on his journey to reclaim Bebbunberg, thus swearing herself to him and becoming his Seer. Upon swearing himself to Alfred, the King of Wessex, Brida began to question Uthred's loyalty and where he stood with his family. In return, she began to question Ingrid, testing her loyalty and her gift from the Gods. Ingrid's loyalty would always be with Uthred and wherever he went.

Once reunited with Ragnar the Young, Ingrid had denied his offer on joining him in becoming his seer and a rift was torn between the two. She tried to explain Uthred needed her more than him but nothing she said or did would sway him.

It was the Gods who told her, her fate was to Uthred to his destiny. To once again claim Bebbunberg from his Uncle.
