Izuku and his mother walked out of the hospital. He danced around happily to a melody only he could hear. Light seeming to dance circles around him. Inko watched him with a smile on her face, even as apprehension tore her apart inside.
He swirled around in front of her and beamed up at his mother. "Mama!" He exclaimed joyfully. Inko chuckled at him, her heart filling full with the amount of love she has for her son.
"Yes sweetie?" she asked sweetly. He grabbed her hands and wrapped her into dancing with him in little circles. "I love you mama!" Inko's heart swelled at the sheer depth of love in his voice. Small tears came to her eyes from happiness.
"I love you too, Izuku. You will never know how much I love you!" Inko exclaimed as she pulled him close and placed an endearing kiss on top of his head.
"Can we go to the park mama? Kaachan is supposed to be there now. I want to tell him about my quirk!" Inko hesitated for a moment, not wanting to expose him to any circumstance that could bring harm to her baby. But she nodded her head, relenting and took him by the hand. They headed towards the park together. Izuku beaming with pure excitement, while Inko's heart tugged at her in dread.
'What could possibly go wrong at the park? Everything will be fine.' She thought to herself as they continued down the path.
Once they arrived, Izuku ran off to where Kaachan and a few others were playing while Inko made her way over to a bench. Mitsuki, her best friend and also Katsuki's mother, was already sitting there. She looked at Inko expectantly.
"Well, what did they say?" she asked impatiently. Inko sighed trying to swallow down the feeling of foreboding residing in her chest. "It went really well. He has an angel quirk. We are not sure of all the abilities that may come with it. But we do know of a strong healing quirk." Inko explained with more enthusiasm than she felt.
"That's incredible, Inko! I am so happy for all of you! Did Hisashi not come with you?" Mitsuki asked, peering around curiously. Inko shook her head. "No, unfortunately, he had a last-minute job he had to attend to. But he said he should be back before supper." Inko said sadly.
Her husband works long hours most of the time, not leaving a whole lot extra for her or their son. She wishes he would stay home more often; she misses him.
Mitsuki tutted. "He really should make more time for you and little Izuku. I have half a mind to tell him myself. But I know you don't want me intervening with it. So, I will keep it to myself." Inko smiled fondly at her friend. "It really is for the best, Mitsuki. He tries his best for us, you know that. He would do anything for me or Izuku." Inko reassured her.
Inko and Mitski continued talking and gossiping about different things.
Izuku had instantly ran up to Katsuki, a bright smile on his face. Light literally gathering around him. Katsuki saw him running towards him. He smirked at the small boy, hiding the amount of joy that coursed through him the instant he laid eyes on that very same small boy.
"Kaachan! Guess what! Guess what! Guess what!" Izuku exclaimed promptly in excitement while bouncing impatiently. Katsuki could feel his heart flip when he called him. But he ignored it and focused on Izuku's incessant chatter.
"What is it Deku?" Katsuki yelled. Izuku continued to jump in place when suddenly Katsuki was knocked off his feet by an invisible force. He glared up at Izuku, completely bewildered. "What was that?!" Katsuki yelled, looking around for the cause of his tumble. But the other kids had already walked away from the two, leaving just them.
He scrambled to his feet, just barely catching a glimpse of a glowing, pure white set of wings connected to the boy in front of him. Then the wings just disappeared.
'Am I seeing things? Going crazy maybe?' Katsuki thought shaking his head clearing his mind of what he saw.
"Are you going to tell me what happened or just keep jumping up and down like an excited puppy?" Katsuki growled once he recovered.
"I'm an angel!" Izuku blurted out loudly. Katsuki looked bewildered. Some other kids stopped what they were doing to look at Izuku skeptically. Katsuki studied his ecstatic expression before smirking at him. The closest he gave as a smile when around other people.
"An angel you say. I don't see no wings." Katsuki snorted. Pushing aside what he saw earlier as his wild imagination. Izuku's smile dropped a bit, in deep concentration. He scrunched his eyebrows together, biting on his tongue.
The next moment, a pair of white wings became visible to those around him. The very same pure, white wings that Katsuki had glimpsed before they vanished from sight. Izuku's smile seemed to brighten even more as he surveyed his own wings in elation.
He tenderly reached his hand towards his brilliant wings and stroked them. Izuku's wing moved to settle in his outstretched hand. He studied the white feathers in amazement. He looked back at Katsuki who had an odd look on his face.
"You wanna feel them? Their so soft!" Izuku offered shyly. Katsuki shook his head before reaching out his hand tenderly petting the wing that was immensely soft.
An older boy with an angry look on his face started to approach them at a quick pace. Izuku's wings shifted out of Katsuki's grasp, instantly spreading out in front of Katsuki and himself protectively.
"Hey you dumb kid! You with the blonde hair! You know what trouble you caused us the other day with that damn teacher!" the bigger boy screamed at Katsuki who looked up at him defiantly, hiding the fact he was trembling inside.
Izuku backed up some when the boy moved closer. The boy went to grab one of them but both of Izuku's wings reared back before swiftly pushing forward successfully blowing the boy several feet away, him landing on his stomach with a loud gasp.
The other children looked at Izuku in admiration after that. But Izuku did not understand why. He hadn't even meant to do it. His wings just seemed to respond to the sense of danger and acted on their own. Katsuki looked at Izuku proudly while others attempted to surround the both of them.
"That's so cool!" "Can I touch them?" "What else can they do?"
Different people rattled off questions that Izuku had no answer for. He felt like a deer caught in headlights. Katsuki saw this and was quickly yelling above the others.
"Hey! You are scaring him, get away!" he yelled aggressively, his hands sparking loudly with his quirk. Inko and Mitski came running over when he started yelling at the others. They walked up just in time to see Izuku's timid expression as his wings faded from sight once again.
Inko looked at her son lovingly. "Your wings are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, Izuku! They are so white and pure!" His mother doted on him before pulling him into a hug. The mothers decided it was a good time to start heading home and said their goodbyes before going separate ways.
