All Aboard the Argo (II)

The earliest risers, Percy and Annabeth, were sitting on the couch in Amy's living room. The clock read 8:47. Morning cartoons were on, and people were slowly trickling in. Amy first, then Piper and Jason (at the exact same time coming from the same direction, as Percy noted with a smirk,) Frank, then Hazel, then, at around 10:30, Leo.
When everyone had gotten down there, Amy and Annabeth (and Percy if you count addition of blue food coloring as cooking) had already made pancakes and stacked them high on everyone's plates.
After eating, Jason awkwardly suggested that they left soon, and start their quest. Everyone mumbled agreement, and silence fell around the room, giving Amy time to think. What was she doing? In one day, she'd been reunited with her long lost twin and found out she had actual superpowers. Not to mention, everything she ever knew about what was and wasn't real was shattered into fragments. Now, these people want her to go on a life-threatening quest with them to save the world. What. The. Heck. Then, she ran through the options in her head. She had the opportunity to leave her adopted family, which had paid no attention to her her whole life until she got famous, and even then, the only questions they asked her were about money. On the other hand, she would be walking into what was practically death on a platter. But hey, at least she'd have friends. After thinking it over for a few more seconds, thoughts flurrying and falling in her mind, she hardened her resolve. Her mind was made up.
"Uh, Amy, we didn't exactly plan for a sleepover when that monster chased us here. Do you have some clothes we can borrow?" With this comment, Amy was thrown out of her decision-induced trance and got back to reality.

Once everyone was dressed, Hazel watched Leo, Frank, Piper, Hazel, Jason, Annabeth, and Percy board the Argo II, Amy bringing up the rear. Hazel thought everything was going pretty smoothly until Percy turned around and stopped Amy, putting his hands on her shoulders.

"Percy. Could you move? I'm trying to board a magical warship here, not exactly a time I want to be slowed down."
Percy opened his mouth with a sad sort of look on his face. "Amy, I can't let you come with us. I don't want you to get you hurt," Percy said in what Hazel thought was an unintentional patronizing tone. "You don't know what you're dealing wit-"
"I know exactly what risks I am taking. I know that we are battling the world, and I know that we can win. I know what I am getting into Percy, and if you treat me like an annoying little tag-along sister I will have nothing to do but prove you wrong."
Everyone stood in silence. It was times like these Hazel saw the glaring differences between Percy and Amy. There was absolutely no way Percy's eyes could ever hold that much calm intensity.
Hazel looked around at the others faces. Percy seemed shocked, but impressed. Frank and Jason were standing awkwardly, like they weren't sure who's side to be on. Piper looked proud. Of who, Hazel couldn't say. Leo looked oddly amorous, but Hazel knew that happened with any moderately good-looking girl we had seen so far on this quest. Although, Amy was more than moderately pretty. You know how some of the people at Camp Jupiter thought Percy was an actual god because he was so handsome? Well, now imagine his female twin. Amy was gorgeous.
Finally, Percy spoke up. "Well, I guess I can't argue with that," he said, his eyes happy despite having just been threatened by his brand-new twin sister, and giving in.
Everyone cheered and quickly gave Amy a room on the boat in between Percy and Piper's. She walked through the ship, tagged along by the rest of the crew, who were grinning at her incredulous reactions to everything from the live Camp Half Blood footage to the Wii controller steering wheel. After the brief tour, the crew, which now included Amy, sat around the table in the dining room/kitchen, eating celebratory leftovers of cake and pizza. "Where on earth do you get pizza and cake on a quest to save the world?" Amy asked, with a forkful of cake in her hand.
"You would be surprised what comes out of Leo's toolbelt." Percy answered.

After all the semi-celebrations, Frank and Percy announced their next stop-- Charleston. Apparently, an ancient sea God had told them a map to the Mark of Athena was located there. No one bothered to give anything but a brief explanation to Amy about what it was, but she managed to gather that Annabeth had to find it, and that everyone was worried about her doing so. Amy continued to roam the ship while they took the long way to Charleston, figuring out how things worked, memorizing where everything was. She even tried to use her power, standing at the side of the ship and holding her hand out over the water, causing little sculptures made of water to erupt from the fast-moving surface. She had been practicing for an hour before her brother came up beside her, making her jump. "Dude! I was concentrating."
Percy could tell. Amy hadn't noticed, but her hair had turned a solid shade of grey. It was slowly melting back to brown now, though. Percy saw what Amy was attempting, and grinned. "Figuring it out yet? It took me a long time. I even ended up accidentally spraying this one girl with toilet water on my first day as a demigod. Long story. Anyway, I was in a lot more relaxed of an environment than you." Percy said, making his own tiny water bursts.
"Yeah, no kidding. I've managed to make these little geyser things, but I can't make any big waves like I did the other day. I can't figure out why." Amy's hair drained to grey again, and she started to use both hands to conjure water, and ended up only making a slightly bigger splash.
"Think about it this way. It's a mind trick. Envision the water doing what you want it to, and it will. You just need to let your power flow from your body to the water, and vice versa. Try it again." Percy started to demonstrate but was called to the mast of the ship by Jason, so Amy was left alone. In concentration and slight frustration, Amy envisioned a huge wall of water flowing under the ship and carrying it straight to Charleston. She let it consume her, using up every inch of free space in her brain. She held her hands out over the water, and felt a sensation somewhat like all the blood rushing to her head, but in her hands, and with water. It was weird. She kept concentrating, and, biting her lip, she felt a huge rush under the ship, causing her to lose her focus. She opened her eyes, and looked around. A huge sign reading "Charleston, City Limit" greeted her. Well, she thought, I guess it worked.
