After a day filled with embarrassment, Duke Aamon was finally taking you back home after having dinner at the Paxley household. With the moon brightly shining upon Moniyan Empire, you cannot bring yourself to enjoy it like usual because of the dark. It somehow reminded you of what happened the other day at the plaza. The last thing you wanted was to encounter something like that again.
“About the possession of the girls the other day, do you know who was behind it?” you finally asked him, unable to keep mum about it.
He shook his head.
“The investigation is still going on. Abyss monsters were simply suspects, but with lack of evidence, it’s unreasonable to point a finger at them. Why? Did something happen?”
You heaved a sigh.
“Nothing in particular. I’m just worried,” you replied.
“Do you want to start your training tomorrow?”
You looked at him for a few seconds before looking down, fumbling with you fingers.
“B-But you have a lot of things to do, right?” you stuttered. “I do not want to be a bother.”
“Then, try enrolling at the academy again if you do not want me to teach you.”
You glared at him.
“I told you that I do not want to go back to the academy!”
“Alright. Before 7:30 in the morning tomorrow, come to my house and I will teach you for an hour. An hour a day would suffice for now.”
You nodded, mumbling a small thank you before stepping out of the carriage. As you waved goodbye, Duke Aamon was smiling at you, but you could not tell if it was a smile meant to tease you or it was just a genuine one.
The first ones to greet you at the entrance were your sisters, squealing and urging you to tell them what happened at the Paxley house when you visited. Of course, you did not want to share the embarrassment you experienced so you just shooed them away and locked yourself in your room.
Lying on your bed, you stared at the ceiling.
“Wear white on our wedding day so I can paint you with my color after.”
The words of the duke replayed in your mind like a broken record, making you blush in no time. You immediately grabbed the nearest pillow and buried your face into it before letting out a scream.
“Damn it! Why is he such a sly fox?” you muttered before a smile slowly crept at the corners of your lips. “And an hour a day with him? Hmph, I guess he is nice once in a while.
Realizing that you were already smiling, you shook your head to keep your senses together. You slapped both of your cheeks.
“No getting carried away, Y/N Windsor! Concentrate on getting stronger instead,” you told yourself.
The next morning, you prepared earlier than usual and headed to the duke's residence.
“The duke is currently at the open ground. You can wait for him at the drawing room, Lady Y/N,” the butler said.
“No need. I will just go and see him there,” you said.
Upon reaching the open ground, you noticed the magic barrier and within it were the Paxley brothers going against each other. You stood at the side and watched them in awe.
They were on a different level.
That was the first thing that crossed your mind as you witness firsthand how the brothers seem to be on par with each other, using advanced magic which was something seemingly impossible for you to reach. Even then, you were somehow motivated to do better in your upcoming training, most especially that one of the top magic user in the land was going to be your teacher.
