I wake up when my phone pings. I pull it off the bed side table and see a text from Tess. I roll on to my back and start to type a reply.
Tess- hey. You up yet?
Mike- hey. I am now. When do you wanna meet?
Tess- coffee shop in half an hour?
Mike- sure thing
I roll out of bed and head for the shower. I stand in there for 15 minutes letting the hot water flow down my body. I get out and dry myself off before getting dressed and going to meet tess.
When I get to coffee shop I realise shes early. I go and order my coffee and take a seat across from her. "Hey" I say. Tess is looking out the window totally entranced. She then turns to me. "So is the hook up rule in effect again or was that a one time thing?" She asks me. I raise an eyebrow. "Straight to the point ok then. Fuck it the hook up rule is in effect. You can call me when you get lonely like you used to do" I say. She rolls her eyes. "If you weren't so good at fucking my brains out I'd have blocked you right now" she says. I smile. "Glad to be of assistance. Are we doing it like last time where we see each other for a guaranteed 3 days a week or just when ever you get lonely?" I ask her. She rolls her eyes. "I'm not fucking you cus I'm lonely" she says. I chuckle and raise an eyebrow at her. "I dunno about that one but sure so what is it gonna be then" I say to her. She pauses and looks back out the window. "Monday, Thursday and Sunday and if I happen to be free and horny I might phone you" she says. I chuckle. "You do know that translates to whenever your lonely" I say to her. She rolls her eyes. "I will change my mind right now" she says. I roll my eyes. "You wanted this in the first place dumb arse" I say to her. She nods her head. "Fuck" she says. I raise an eyebrow. "Firstly I'll accept your deal but I want the phone call privilege as well. Secondly is that an invite?" I say with a smile on my face. Tess rolls her eyes. "Alright perfect my place at 6 tonight then and no that wasn't an invite" she says. She finishes her coffee and then leaves.I'm still sat at the table sipping my coffee when I decide to text ted.
Mike- hey Ted. I gotta talk to you meet me at our spot in 20 minutes
Ted- hey Mike. No problem see you there
I arrive at our spot a couple minutes early. "Hey Mike" Ted says when he gets here. I tell him everything about last night. "Shit dude so you let her have the hook up rule then" he says with a grave look on his face. I nod my head. "The thing is the last time we had the hook up rule I slowly fell out of love with Tess because I realised that anyone could do the shit she was doing for me" I say. Ted bursts out laughing. "So let me get this straight you fell out of love with Tess but still dated her afterwards anyway. Fucking why dude?" He says. He makes a very good point. "She knew what to say to make me fall back in plus I didn't really connect with any of the other girls I fucked when I was at uni it was just causal shit with Tess things where serious. Now that it's just causal sex I'm gonna put myself back out in the world properly and find someone who cares about more than just sex" I say. Ted nods his head. "But your still gonna fuck the shit out of Tess whenever she calls" he says.
I nod my head because there's no doubt that's what I'll end up doing. "Yeah but it's not hard to find someone to be serious about a relationship with" I say. Ted nods his head. "Just be careful innit Cus there's no telling what Tess will do if she develops feelings for you whilst your fucking your feelings out and you don't know how easy Tess will make it for you to stop for this other girl" he says. I nod my head. He's right there's a lot of other factors to consider but we'll cross those bridges when we come to them.
i get home at 2 in the afternoon and check my emails. "OH YES" I yell out. I got the placement on the teaching course that I wanted to do. the first introductions for the course are tomorrow. I then download tinder and a couple other dating apps on to my phone in a attempt to move on from Tess for good. i start swiping through tinder for a bit matching with lots and lots of women. but there's one that catches my eye. she's messaged me a simple hey. I decide to see what she's about
may- hey
mike- hi
may- how are you?
mike- I'm pretty good how are you?
may- I'm pretty good. this is going to come across a bit forward but what are you doing tomorrow?
mike- not to much why do you wanna get some dinner or something?
may- I was gonna say a coffee but dinner works as well
mike- oh sorry now I'm the one being forward. give me a time and a place I'll meet you there
may- ok sure how about the Italian place nearby the university at 6.
mike- oh sure
that works well for me. I finish at the uni at 5 so just stay in the area for an hour and then meet may at the restaurant.
