Chapter 4- dare to say those 3 words

I wake up at 10AM. I know what I have to do but at the same time I don't know if I want to. Because I still love Tess and I always had. Which makes it near impossible to say no to her. I pull out my phone and debate what to say to her.

Mike- hey Tess. Listen we have to talk. Meet me at the coffee shop in an hour?
Tess- 😂😂😂
Tess- sure I'll make sure to wear something sexy underneath for you 😉

I roll my eyes at the second text from her. I hop in the shower and then I head for the coffee shop. I sit at our table and order a coffee. I'm half an hour early but I still haven't properly decided what to say to Tess. I think about telling her that I've always loved her. I finish my first coffee and go to order a second when I see Ted enter the coffee shop. He nods his head at me and then frowns. He raises his eyebrow at me and I nod my head. He then shakes his head. I order my coffee and go back to my table. I check my watch 5 minutes till Tess is meant to be here.
I watch as Ted walks over. "Tess?" He asks as he sits behind me. "Yeah but what gave it away" I say. He chuckles lightly. "Mike I can read you like a book. You still like her always have always will and your also the sentimental type. You and her made the hook up rule here. She instigated the first serious conversation about it here yesterday and now your here. So what's your game plan?" He says to me. I chuckle and smile. "Don't have one" I say. He lets out a chuckle. "Well don't me but I'm gonna sit here and wait for you to fuck up, I want the front row seat" he says to me. I chuckle. "I'd expect nothing less" I say. The door to the coffee shop opens. In walks Tess her ginger hair flowing as she walks over to the counter.
"I'm fucked" I mutter. I hear Ted chuckle behind me as he opens a newspaper. Tess sits across from me. "So you wanted to talk?" She says with a Questioning tone. I smile. "Yeah I've got a couple questions to be honest" I say she nods her head. "Shoot" she says. I smile and think about which one I want to ask first. "The day we broke up. What was your reason for leaving me?" I ask her. She chuckles. "I don't see a future with the two of us" she says. Ouch. I bite my lip for a second. Tess looks at me expectantly. "Uh ok. Why do you want the hook up rule then?" I say to her. She rolls her eyes. "Because I need some regular dick and since you where happy to be regular dick for me last time I didn't think you would give a shit" she says. I sigh. "This time and last time are completely different" I say to her.
Her eyes widen. "The fuck do you mean Mike" she says. I sigh. "Well last time you didn't get me to come to yours whilst you where taking dick from another guy and secondly I agreed with you about the whole not wanting to get in the way of uni shit" I say. She sighs and rolls her eyes. "Your taking the piss all of this bullshit Cus I had another guys dick in me" she says. I hear Ted cough. "You know it's a fair reason" he says spinning on his chair. Tess scowls at the both of us.
"You bought ted really?" She says. I sigh.
"No he happened to be here while I was getting a coffee. I was gonna let him handle this on his own Cus he's a big boy but your being totally unreasonable. You just expect him to want to be your fuck buddy after literally catching you with another man. Your expecting him to be alright with the fact you cheated on him Cus what you don't see your future with him. It's bullshit Tess and you know it" he says. I look at him and sigh. "He's right" I say. I then get up and head for the door of the coffee shop. I get out on to the street before Tess tries to chase after me.
I take off with a run. I duck down a couple of side streets and come out by the night club. I carry on running for a little while long then I stop and walk the rest of the way home when I get home my phone pings.

Tess- call me at some point

I roll my eyes. It doesn't make sense to me. First she cheats then she wants to still hook up and she still wants me to be okay but I don't know if I can be. I was biting my tongue to not tell her that I love her. There's a knock at the door. I walk over to the door and look through the peep hole. Ted is stood at my door. I open the door.
"Shit dude I'm sorry" he says when I open the door. I break down at that moment. "All I am is some casual dick to her aren't I" I say. He shakes his head. "Fuck no you ain't causal dick for her. She's just a cunt lad. She's just a petty bitch who thinks she can get the shit she wants. You gotta forget her and make her somebody you used to know Cus shit she don't see a future with you so why should you see her" he says. I shake my head. "But Ted I still love her" I say. I collapse to the floor my back resting against the wall. Ted sits down next to me. "I know its shit dude. You got these feelings and she's just disregarding them. But you gotta get over them" he says. I sigh and shake my head. "I tried that once before it didn't exactly work"
I say. Ted tilts his head and shoots me a questioning look. "What do you mean?" He asks me. I chuckle. "The rizzler of Sheffield I believe you called it" I say. He shakes his head. "You can't count that Cus you where still Fucking her what 3 days a week. That's not getting over her that's distracting yourself" he says.
He's right. I know he is. But I still care for Tess. "I dunno what to do" I say. Ted shakes his head. "I dunno what to say to help you to be honest lad this is something you've gotta do on your own" he says. I nod my head. Ted sees himself out and I sit in the floor a little longer just starring at tess's text.

Eventually I bite the bullet. "Fuck it" I say. I pick up my phone. I press the button to call. It rings once, then twice, then three times, it rings for another 4 or 5 seconds then Tess picks up. "Hey" she says. I chuckle. "So the hook up rule" I say. I hear the gasp she lets out. "Where and when?" I say. She gasps again. "My place in let's say half an hour" she says. I sigh. "Sure see you then" I say.
