A/N: Last night while scrolling through TikTok I came across a spoken word poem that really inspired me to write this. I'm going to publish it as Part 1 for now, but I might go in later and remove that (I'm not sure yet). I hope you all enjoy.

Dear Dad,
Mom's throwing me a party but when I look around at the people who showed up, you're not there. A sad reality I would have to get used to for years to come.
So much so to the point where my heart stops looking for you, hoping you'll show, or even when the next time I'll hear from you.
They say a girl will fall in love with a boy that reminds her of her father and that scares me, but it's also true.
He's exactly like you; sweet, childish, broken from a young age, angry - you would love him. But I'm starting to think against allowing myself to be with him.
I've seen one major argument he's had with his family and it instantly took me back to my childhood through the things I experienced.
You broke me at an early age, and that's a scar I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my life.
Maybe falling for a guy like your father is not always the best of choices.
