@Emilygomse Thanks for the request! Hope it lives up to your expectations, and that my writing isn't too bad, haha.
I'm a bit anxious about posting this, so please be easy on me.

Out of all outcomes he expected from a god damned meeting just before the 4th, standing in front of Texas's front door with his duffle-bag thrown over his shoulder was not how he expected to be ending his day. As he stepped up onto the old wooden porch, he began subconsciously scanning his current surroundings. The sun had begun to set casting a reddish orange hue around the miles of long hills covered by green grass and fields. In the far-off distance, he could see an old looking farmhouse similar to the one he found himself in front of. Although similar in size, Texas's house had a large barn that contained what he assumed must be farm animals off behind his house, along with a fenced area that appeared to be for horses.
To New York it was... strange... He never thought something so opposite of his life would bring him any amount of peace. The state even making a point to find the most chaotic state he knew to stay at in the summers, but here? Everything felt new to him, like the fresh air that didn't hurt to breath in like in his state. The sight of stars in the sky, actual stars that he found got brighter and multiplied the longer he looked across the horizon almost made his jaw drop. He found himself smiling, not a prideful grin from wining an argument, or a fake snarky one he did to show he didn't care, but a real one. It felt soft and freeing to feel this way. His thoughts wandered to the previous meeting that led him to this point.

"How do you sleep at night?" Gov asked, a dumb question on his end as he glared over at 'The City Who Never Sleeps.'
"I don't." New York stated as though it wasn't obvious enough. "That's kinda my whole thing."
"I get why now." He could tell this had gotten to the personification of the government. A simple lie told by New York years ago had managed to mess with the disheveled immortals head in a matter of seconds.
"The hot dog eating contests weren't even on the 4th of July until the 80s." New York continued, he enjoyed being able to get under people's skin like this, it just felt so easy. He guessed this was why he had been compared to the Choas state on the occasion. The same state whose eyes brightened knowing New York was the cause of Gov's annoyance instead of him for once.
"Why are you doing this??" The Government exclaimed, he hated everything about this conversation, and honestly didn't know why he was asking when he already knew the answer.
He lowered his voice as he answered, squinting his eyes. "Because it hurts you."
"You're tellin' me we were just one regional lie away from havin' brisket on the 4th?" Texas chimed in. The sound of his voice almost startling New York, something about the southern state always managed to annoy him in a way that wasn't normal. He wasn't even sure it was annoyance he was feeling for the state, but that's what he was going to call it. Can't be wrong if no one else knows the answer either, he supposed.
"You're welcome," he thanked his quick wit for not letting him stumble over his words.
Another voice joined the discussion, "Do you not just eat brisket on the 4th anyway?" South Carolina turned towards Texas.
"Oh, no, I do. It's just the principle." He turned back towards New York who continued to cross his arms.
"Sounds like I did the rest of the country a favor." He snarked. It was clear New York wasn't going to drop this until he either got bored or someone proved him wrong.
