more than just admiration

Luigi had always admired Bowser. Since the day he fount out about the koopa king, he never saw him as a bad guy. Even after the multitude of kidnappings and his brother's absolute hatred for anything related to the reptile, Luigi could never find any real reasons to hate him.

He never said any of this to Mario, of course. His brother hated Bowser with every fiber in his being, understandably— Luigi couldn't remember the sheer amount of times that Bowser had stolen Peach away from Mario.

So, maybe that thought was the reason that Luigi came up with his grand plan in the first place. He didn't like to hurt his brother, but this way of indulging in his selfish needs wasn't going to do much harm.

He had stolen one of Peach's dresses (she wouldn't notice anyway, she had like sixteen identical dresses sitting in her closet) and gotten himself a blonde wig, and sat upon a big tree. That big tree is where Peach always went missing, or at least most of the time, and he crossed his fingers.

It worked.

To be honest, he didn't expect it to— even if he did end up captured, what if Bowser realised that it was him and killed him right then and there? Or sent him back to Mario to be killed by his brother instead?

Instead, Luigi woke up this morning (or night? You could never tell with all the lava outside) in a big, plush bed.

As the memories rushed back to him, he almost considered that he was in heaven. If he had been captured by Bowser, he would be sitting in a cold, dark dungeon cell with the rats; not this plush, comfortable guest bedroom that looked fit for a king.

Or was this the kind of treatment that Bowser had been giving Peach all this time?

Luigi finally looked around to really take in the room. It was ginormous— at least big enough to fit 5 whole Bowsers. The bed he was sitting in looked like it wasn't made for a measly human like him, flush with satin sheets and fluffy throw pillows. There were paintings hung up around the room, from landscapes to surrealist art, and lots of big gold-rimmed chairs and tea tables.

Luigi's eyes got wider and wider the more he noticed, his mouth agape, until he heard the door creak slowly open.

He immediately jumped up, letting out a small scream, until he saw that it was none other than Bowser standing in the doorway.

Luigi's heartrate sped up. Was it excitement, or was it nervousness? He had never seen the Koopa King in person― he was huge, and even more handsome than in any of Mario's stupid descriptions. Luigi couldn't find it in himself to speak, frozen in a mixture of shock and fear.

Bowser looked into his eyes, playing with his big hands. "Hello, Luigi."

Luigi looked down at himself, noticing that he was still in Peach's dress, making his cheeks heat up. His hands flew out to his hair, realising that his wig was gone.

He swallowed his fear, trying to meet Bowser's eyes himself. "You're not mad... that I... p-pretended?"

Bowser's lips turned up into a small smirk that made Luigi's heart hammer against his chest. "Actually, I've gotten a bit tired of making your brother so mad all the time. Y'know, Peach isn't the most fun to capture anymore... but I knew that it was you." His fiery eyes burned with passion.

Luigi swallowed once again, not knowing what to say. Did his idol, his hidden idol since he was just little, know who he was? He had always been in Mario's shadow, no one had ever even spared him a glance, until this handsome reptile.

He knew that this warm feeling in the pit of his stomach wasn't just admiration.

Bowser made his way slowly over to the bed, sitting down beside Luigi. His monstrous weight almost sent Luigi bouncing into the air. "It's just, Luigi... I love you."

This must be a dream.

There was no way that the person that Luigi loved so much loved him back. There was no way.

Even if it was a dream, Luigi could still make the most of it. "I love you, too."

Bowser's rough mouth met Luigi's lips, kissing and kissing until they were both too out of breath to continue.

Bowser's hand trailed along Luigi's waist to the zipper back of the dress, tugging ever so slightly. "Can I?"

Luigi nodded vigorously, never wanting something so much in his whole life.

Bowser fell back onto the now-messy satin sheets, breathing out a puff of air as Luigi fell down in exhaustion beside him.

Bowser smiled up at the perfect white ceiling. "That was great."

The sound of his deep, rumbling voice made Luigi want to kiss him all over again— all the plumber could muster out was a whispered "Yeah".
