It wasn't hard to track down where the Kitsune had gone, he had purposefully left scratch marks down whichever halls he took. They had been following the scratch marks since they left Tamaki. "Odd... Isn't it strange that we've seen nothing from the guy shifting the basement around?" Eraser had remarked, Midoriya had found it strange too. "That he's allowed us to come this far without interfering must mean that he doesn't have complete awareness or control of the basement. Suneater's back there, and the officers are up above... Perhaps our villain is focusing his attention on them?" Up ahead they could see a flash of white, meaning that the Kitsune wasn't too far on, perhaps he was waiting for them ever so slightly.Whatever the case, they hadn't completely lost track of the Kitsune. "Is there a limit to how much he can monitor at once?" Rock Lock asked, likely aimed at Eraser.
Eraser had his eyes focused forward toward the lightning flashing down the hall. "This is just a theory, but I think he literally dove into the basement to control it. He hasn't become the facility itself. Rather, he's sneaking through the walls, watching and listening. So when he shifts things around to slow us down, there's a chance his real body is nearby. He must stick his real eyes or ears out to observe..." Eraser gave a guess as to how the guy's Quirk actually worked, and before they knew it, a segment of the wall came rushing out at the black-haired pro hero, aiming to push him down a hole created on the opposite wall.
Before he could get pushed down, Fat Gum and unknowingly Kirishima had pushed him out of the way, the both of them falling down instead of Eraser. Poor Kirishima had been crushed under Fat Gum. Kirishima had explained that he dove in to protect Eraser, knowing he wouldn't take any damage, but then sunk into Fat Gum.
Fat Gum had told him to stay on guard as a villain came out from the shadows. A big person with the same mask design as everyone else except it covered his whole face. His dull redish purple hair came out of the back of the mask. Kirishima hardened his skin, thinking he'd be able to easily block the incoming punch, but when struck, he was sent flying back into the wall.
The villain sent multiple, fast punches to Fat Gum, the fat absorbing the impact so he wasn't knocked back unlike Kirishima. "I think... there's something really tasteless about bringing a gun or a knife to a fight. Whoever's got the weapon wins, right? That ain't a real fight. Men're meant to rip each other apart with their own power. You feel me?" Fat had checked on Kirishima before trying to throw a punch at the villain. Kirishima's arms had parts where the hardening broke off.
Fat's punch was absorbed by a yellow barrier, and a man with a mask similar to Overhaul's stepped out of the shadows. "Fat Gum and a boy who can harden his body... Just two... hmph! And both with defense-oriented Quirks. Nothing but punks. What a shame, Rappa." Rappa must have been the stronger villain.
Rappa went in again at Fat, landing fast and strong punches that tore through Fat's shirt. "Defense oriented, huh? Guy's barely standing after that. Still, it's impressive that he's still in one piece, right?" Fat never saw registered Quirks for the two of them, he believed they were outsiders. He knew this was going to be a rough fight.
The shield user stepped towards Rappa, his hands on his temples with his eyes closed. "We are a spear and shield, up against two shields." He remarked, standing beside the taller villain.
"Wait... So this ain't gonna be a real fight? That sucks..." Rappa answered back, glancing down at his teammate.
The shield user opened one eye, looking over at Kirishima. "Especially since calling the boy a shield gives him too much credit..." Blood seeped through the cracks in his arms, he doubled over in pain.
He believed that he was not strong enough. "Keep standing!! You haven't lost until they've broken your spirit!" Fat Gum tried encouraging the younger boy, keeping his eyes on the villains in front of him. "Taking down villains is all about how fast you can make 'em lose the will to fight! If you throw the towel first, what then?"
The shield user put a barrier around himself and Rappa. "They believe they can win. You must be pleased, Rappa." Tengai remarked to his teammate who was getting just that much more excited.
"This fatso really gets it. Good for him! Ooh, this is about to get fun! Tengai, take this crap down and cut it out. It's not like I needed a barrier in the first place." Rappa's handguard clanked off the barrier, waiting for Tengai to take it down.
Tengai had a hand on his head, seemingly irritated by Rappa. "Do not submit to selfish desires, and do not forget master Overhaul's orders. We make the perfect team, our combined strength is more than capable of bringing them down." Tengai was quite confident in their abilities.
Rappa turned to land hits on Tengai who put a barrier around himself before Rappa could hit him. "Overjerk's the one who decided we should be a team. As long as I get to fight in death matches, I couldn't care less." It seemed they had internal conflict in the Shie Hassaikai.
"As you wish. However, you better finish the job, and it's not Overjerk. It's master Overhaul." Tengai put down the barrier that separated Rappa from Fat Gum and Red Riot.
"We got an understand, then? You're all right, for a shut-in." Rappa charged at Fat Gum, landing hit after hit on his stomach, knocking Fat back.
Keeping track of Rappa wouldn't work, he was too fast, and dodging his barrage of attacks was impossible. The shock of each blow was damaging Fat despite his Quirk, and at that rate, he'll break him little by little. Despite Rappa and Tengai's argument, there was no doubt that the guy will shield his pal if things got rough. Unless he takes Tengai out, their possibility of winning was slim, and not to mention that Kirishima was badly injured.
He only had one option. "It's Rappa, right? It's been a good long while since I felt anything at all from an attack. I used to be a rough-'n'-tumble brawler myself, way back. So why's gonna cry uncle first? You and your arms, or me and my body? Which is stronger? Spear or shield? Let's rumble!! Rappa!!" Rappa was getting more excited than before at the challenge by Fat Gum. Rappa had shouted to Tengai to put up no barriers as he went in on the pro hero.
Kirishima could only stand there, watching as Fat took the hits and protected him even though those punches were clearly too much for him. He thought he was stronger, that's why he jumped in, but the ultimate move he was so proud of got smashed up like it was nothing, so he believes he's just in the way. "Don't let me down, Fatso! Just stand there for me. I'm just getting warmed up!"
Rappa's attacks were relentless, they never changed, if anything, they got faster. Though, it wasn't like Fat was doing this without a plan... "Aw, c'mon!! Hang in there, buddy!!" Fat was doubled over, his clothing was ripped up from Rappa's attacks.
If they were thinking Fat was simply a shield, they were wrong. He has been absorbing each and every single blow, canceling out the hits takes a lot of energy and burns off all the fat that serves as a shield. His defense was getting eaten away but with every blow he stored, he forged his own spear that would break through any shield.
Tengai could tell Fat was planning something though and told Rappa to finish him. "I gotta know!! If you're still alive, show me whatever it is you've got!!" Just before the punches could get to Fat, Kirishima jumped in, shielding Fat from the fleet of punches.
Kirishima was taking the punches to his forearm, standing his ground, and not moving an inch. Every time he cracked, he would harden again and again. The two went in to clash fists, but Tengai put a barrier up, Kirishima being the one to fall.
Fat caught him before he could fall to the floor. "Thank you, Red. You bought me the time I needed." Rappa shouted at Tengai to take down the barrier, he wanted to take on Fat Gum now that he was showing true power. "You wanna know why you're gonna lose?! Because all of us... including me... under estimated him!! The hero called Red Riot and his chivalrous spirit!" Fat Gum's stored-up power had shattered the shield, slamming the villains to the wall behind them, a fight seemingly won by the heroes once again...
