Chapter 5: Objectives

The moment Khun Sam broke the news to us, everyone went silent. She then took a deep breath and walked out of the hospital as fast as she could. All of us stood up in sync and trailed after her. She then entered a restaurant which was situated right next to the hospital then she got the waiter to lead her to a private room in which she sat down at the big table which was placed inside the room. She then stared straight ahead while biting her nails nervously.
After a while, we reached the restaurant and sat down together with at the table. All of us just stared at her suddenly unsure on what to say next. Suddenly P'Jim stood up from her seat and broke the silence.
"Hey Sam, I'm the one who has been sick. Why are you stealing my limelight huh?"
P'Jim had suddenly changed from a person who does not give a damn about the world into a concerned friend. At that moment,she had completely forgotten about her problems. I could not move an inch in my seat which was next to Khun Sam and i felt as if my soul had just left my body. I could only stared blankly at Khun Sam. Only P'Tee and P'Kate remained composed.
"Ok exactly what did the doctor said to you?Is it a tumor or cancer?" P'Tee asked Khun Sam for clarifications.At the same time,P'Kate pulled P'Jim urging her to sit back down so as to not embarrass ourselves as we were all in a restaurant.Khun Sam just stared at P'Tee and after a few moment of silence,she shrugged while answering
"I don't know.The result is not out yet.It will take 4-5 days to know"
"Luckily,Mon urged you to get a checkup so the perhaps the growth might not be that large.No wonder you kept having headaches so often.Why don't you take better care of yourself?You're a CEO for god's sake and you have many employees under your wing.If something wrong were to happen to you,it will not only affect yourself"P'Tee started nagging at Khun Sam who remained silent but just kept shrugging her shoulders.
"Ok I went for the checkup didn't I?Stop nagging at me.Let's just wait for the test result to come out before getting all stresses out"
"Did the doctor said anything else?Like how to treat it?If it's just a tumor,it should be treatable but if it's not..." My voice started to crack as if it refused to continue.Khun Sam looked at me pitifully and reached over to rub my arms to comfort me.
"Well I will have to undergo an operation to have it removed.It is treatable so don't worry.Worst case scenario I die" She replied as a matter of factly.
"Khun Sam!" I bellowed and stood up from my seat.As i was standing up,i slammed both my hands on the table.I walked out of the restaurant completely enraged.Everyone was taken aback by my unexpected outburst.Khun Sam quickly got up and tried to grab my hand to stop me from leaving so that we can talk things out but i twisted my hand out of her grasp and continued walking.My eyes had became watery the moment she mentioned about death acting as if it was nothing without any consideration about me who would be left behind.

"Why are you angry?" She asked the moment she managed to catch up beside me.I stopped abruptly and turned to face her.

"Why wouldn't i be angry? You talk about death so easily without even thinking abt me at all" I yelled.

"I was just saying" she said.

"Before you say something like that next time,can you think about it first?I'm going crazy from worrying about you but you acted all cold.You even mentioned death without any care.What if i were in your position?being sick and mentioning about death,Will you be ok with that?" I yelled hysterically.

"I would feel that i had been left behind" she replied softly.

"Yes and that is exactly how i feel right now and yet you said it was nothing?"

She reached out to squeeze my wrist tightly and gave me a smile before hugging me to console me.I started sobbing hard the moment she took me into her arms.
