A Matter Of Time

Luke's POV:

"And the last group is.. Chris and Luke. You guys will be studying and making a presentation about.." the teacher said.
What? Him? What do i do? I haven't spoken with him for years.. It's awkward enough that we were in the same classes. But now this?!? I kept to myself.

I haven't spoke with him for years. I'm kind of nervous thinking what if we don't get along after such a long time. I just realized how much he changed over the years. How he have grown shorter than me, how he interacts with his friends now, how he is more confident now than before. It's like I didn't even know him. RriiiIinnGgggG~ The school bell rang and I got up from my seat.

It's lunch time, everyone's eating at the cafeteria but I'm not really hungry.
"Ah, about the project. I should discuss him about it or something.. " I muttered to myself. I walked to the cafeteria to look for him, then I saw him.

With his friends, he seems happy. I walked up to them
"Hey, we're grouped together in chemistry right? " I spoke and he looked up to me. He seemed suprised, scared..? Scared of me..
"Let's do the project in my house, meet me later after school. " I continued. Looking at his friends they looked at me weirdly, like I'm some sort of creep. They're intimidated by me, because of how i look, maybe.
"A-alright.. " he responded. See? He is scared of me. I just walked off, and I did I heard them talking, about me.

My class was dismissed early so now im waiting for Chris. I went to my locker to get my bag and went out the school building. While waiting i saw some of my friends.
"HeyYy, Lukas. How've you been buddy? " one of them said, they seem to have drunk a bit.
"Uh, yeah i'm good. " i replied.
"We're going out to the club, wanna come? " they asked. For God sakes, it's so early.
"Nah, I'm good. "
"Meh, okay then. Your loss. " They said and walked away. I don't even know why they're still connected with me.

I took my phone out and texted Chris; "Are you done with class? I'll be at the school gate. Meet me here and I'll drive us both to my house"

The other students will be out any minute now.

Moments later the other students got out of school and I finally saw Chris walking out. He slowly approached me.
"Hi.. " he said but I couldn't say anything back for some reason.
"Let's just go, I want to finish this fast. Follow me" I said. Why can't I say anything good back? Ugh. Then we started walking to my car. I unlocked the car and we went inside, then I started it and we went on our way.

While driving I can feel a tension between us but I kept trying to ignore it.
"U-um.. How have you been? " he spoke. I tried to find a good response to what he just said, I looked at him secretly
"I'm fine.. " I responded. I can sense him looking at me but I just couldn't look back.
"Oh, um. That's great. "

I while later we finally arrived at my house. We both got out of the car and I locked it. I opened the door with my lock and we both went inside the house. The inside is empty, as usual.
"Just sit here" I said pointing at the couch, as he was looking around the living room.

"No one's home because they're in a vacation so there won't be anyone bothering us here. " I said as I take off my bag and place it at the couch.
"They just left you here alone? " he said, seeming stunned at what I said.
"It's just a vacation, and plus I have school. " I shrugged. I'm used to being alone at the house anyways. There's usually a maid taking care of the house with me here so I'm not that lonely but they seem to be in rest day so no one's home. I left him for a few moments in living room to go in my room to change from my clothes.

After that I went back in the living room.
" Do you want to change or do you want to stay in those clothes? " I asked him.
"Huh? Uh, yeah sure.." He answered and I gave him a pair of my clothes.

When he came back he was wearing my clothes. I noticed immediately how my clothes were bigger than his, it was kinda.. Adorable? I just shrugged it off my mind. We need to focus on that project.
"Are you done? " I asked. And he nodded, sitting down the couch. Then we started doing our project.

We finally finished our project. The whole time earlier I just couldn't seem to focus. My mind is just all over the place, and my eyes kept wandering into Chris. Maybe it's because I find him unfamiliar, maybe it's because it's been a long time. Luckily we finished but it's kind of late now.

"It's 9:00 pm. It's late do you want to stay here longer or do you want me to drive you home? " I asked him while fixing the books we used for research.
"Well, I do have to go home.. There's class tomorrow. " He responded.
"Oh, okay.. Just change back to your clothes and I'll drive you home. " I said.

After he change we went out of the house and to my car, it was so dark outside. We went inside the car and I started the engine and we started to drive to his house. His house was kind of near from mine so it wasn't a long drive. Then we arrived at his house
"Thank you.. " he said as he got out of the car. When he finally got inside his house I finally drove away.

I was still wondering what happened earlier, why I couldn't focus at the project.
