Kate's Pov

I was sitting in a questioning room for who knows what. Even though I knew it was against the law to arrest someone without even telling them what they did. I was scared that they might look me up if I put up a fight and I really didn't need that right now.

"Hello Kate I am Detective Warner I'm here to ask you a few questions is that alright" He asked and i nervously nodded "14 years ago when you were about 6 years old your mother was into illegally buying drugs since we have no other witnesses to this you are the only one who could confirm this" He said making me quiet "I would have you know it wasn't easy to find you your mother tried really hard to cut you out of her life we have been looking for you for years" He said making a tear fall down my eyes "Stop, please just stop" I said making him purse his lips together "You have the wrong information, now can I please go" I asked He gave me a sympathetic look before handing me his card and motioning toward the door. I did some paperwork for dismissal and gave it to the lady as I left "I sat on the bench outside of the police station and help my head in my hands as I cried into them.

I never knew she would try that hard to get rid of me I didn't understand how a mother could have a child and not even care about her I wiped my face and started walking to my apartment it was probably 50 degrees even though it was almost summer the valley was always freezing at night. A car pulled up to me and i turned around recognizing the black Cadillac escalade to cams car I kept walking "If you come seeking an apology im not giving you one" I told him as he rolled his eyes "Just get in the car its freezing and your wearing a short sleeve shirt" he said as I gave in and jumped in the car and covered my face as I started crying again. "What happened?" He asked as he rubbed my back "Its been a rough night" I sniffed as I wiped my eyes and leaned against the window. It was a silent ride home. Once we arrived he walked me in and leaned on the door as we had a silent stare down. "Goodnight" he huffed and started to walk away "Wait" I said as he turned around "Please, just stay with me tonight" I asked nervously as he nodded and walked in. "Whats going on today that I didn't know Kate" he asked me "Remember when I told you something's I cant fill you in in because I needed to protect myself?" I asked and he nodded "well that's one of these times" I said as he understood "something tells me this isn't the only time" he guessed "It doesn't always take a bunch of things to tear you apart sometimes the world only needs one reason to ruin your life" I said as he gave a sympathetic look "And sometimes it only takes one thing to put it back together" I smiled and got ready for bed
