Tammi's POV
Tied to the chair, I saw Remlin (A/N that's the empousa's real name) hit Luke on the head with an old rusted plank of wood. I tried hard not to cry. Luke reminded me so much of Jay...No, don't think about that. Don't do it, I told myself.
I hoped that Thalia would have seen this little scene and stayed underground. I didn't care much about her. It was because of her mother that I had lost everything but she was Luke's only chance to escape; my only chance to escape. Life couldn't be kind, though. She poked her head outside and Remlin pulled her out, holding a knife at her throat.
Getleon stepped out of the shadows.
"You little demigods really thought you could escape that easily?"he said in a greasy voice."And Tammi, I didn't expect you to stand by them! I thought I had won your loyalty."
I would've loved to throw some biting comments at him but the gag at my mouth stopped me frrom saying anything.
Getleon chuckled at my discomfort. He seemed to be enjoying this. He must be the one who sent Remlin at my trail.
"What have you done to Luke?"Thalia spoke up.
"That brings us back to the subject of the cow,"Getleon said."Here's my deal. Give me the cow, or he dies."
"What if the cow is with him, not me?"Thalia said, her eyes flashing defiantly. I couldn't help but admire her bravery. She had the guts to stand up to Getleon, which was something I could never do. To my annoyance, Remlin let out a throaty laugh.
"If he has the cow, then he'll die. Along with you, and the creature would never come back. I would prefer to have it alive, though. As I said you have time till the morning to think about this proposal. And here's some incentive - What have the Gods ever done from you. Did they protect your family? Did they protect your friend here? Why do them a favour? Why be thier willing slaves?" Getleon said.
I saw something in Thalia's face. Her expression was confused for a second, like she hadn't thought about it before. I struggled to say something. Remlin noticed my movements.
"Looks like our dear traitor has something to say to us, Lord,"she said in a smooth voice. I hate that little demon. She always treated me like vermin, continuously reminding me that I owed my life to her master. She was the reason I had never tried to run away.
"Ungag her,"Getleon said."I would like to know the cause of betrayel from her mouth."
The gag was roughly pulled away from my face and I took a deep breath.
"They are demigods, my Lord,"I said hoping that I could quickly come up with some reasonable excuse."They are my brethren. I was distracted from my duties. I assure you, it won't happen again."
I saw Thalia give me a look of loathing but there was nothing I could do about thta. This was after all, a way in which I could help them again.
"It can't happen again. Only the Gods are foolish enough to give traitors second chances. From now on, you are among the prisoners. You will be imprisoned with your brethren. I would've preferred to kill you, but you may prove...ah, beneficial. Remlin, take them to the prisons, but this time they will be guarded by Gregory."
Remlin bowed. She undid my ropes and I quietly followed her, accompanied by Thalia who was looking nervously at the unconcious body of Luke, who was floating behind us. My heart filled with dread to think of who Gregory was. Knowing Getleon, I had a feeling that it was the guard of the high security prison.
Remlin lead us through a dark maze of rooms, down staircases and deeper into the castle than I had ever been. In the end, she locked us inside a room with a huge brass door and a large, wide open window, outside which a huge troll stood guard.
