1- Discovery.

It was a Saturday in Hawkins, Indiana.
Will Byers was in his room painting.

"Will phone for you!" His mother yelled from downstairs. "Coming Mom!" Will put his paint brush down and went downstairs to get the phone. Will took the phone from his mother and held it to his ear.

"Will Byers speaking!" Will said in a soft tone, he always answered the phone like that. "Hey Will it's Mike. Where are you we've been waiting for a while." Mike said over the phone that was hooked up to the wall.

"Shit! Uhm I got distracted wait for me. I'll be there in five!" Will hung up the phone before the boy over the phone could respond. Will ran upstairs and put on a sweater, he grabbed some headphones and a mp3 player. He also got $50 bucks from a box on his desk.

He ran outside, before he closed the door he yelled, "Mom i'm going out!" Will closed the door as he heard a muffled, "Okay honey have fun!" Will ran to his bike and got on it. He started riding his bike to the mall.

Once he got to the mall he saw three people waiting for him there. "Took you long enough!" Lucas complained. "Sorry, lost track of time!" Will replied, rolling his eyes walking into the building following his friends.

"Scoops?" Mike asked. "Yeah sure!" The rest of them agreed. It was a boys day, which meant Saturdays were dedicated to a boys only day.

They were walking to scoops ahoy, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin had started talking about something that happened last Saturday, Will had listened in he realized none of them talked to him last Saturday.

"Hey wasn't last Saturday a boys day too?" Will asked, cutting into the conversation. "Yeah?" Mike didn't bother to turn to Will. "You should know that, you were there?" Mike started. "No I wasn't, I never got a call." Will responded.

"Oh sorry man, I forgot to call you." Mike realized. They had went back to talking, at this point Will knew he wasn't gonna be talked to for a while. He put his headphones on and started playing a song. He didn't want to listen to the conversation that didn't involve him.

He turned on one of his favorite songs, 'Everybody wants to rule the world' By Tears for Fears. He liked the song ever sense it came out, which was three years ago. He listened to it at least twice a week.

Once they got to scoops they all ordered. "Can I get.. One strawberry?" Mike asked. "And a mint chocolate chip!" Lucas added. "..And a mint chocolate chip." Mike said. "Oo! And vanilla!" Dustin added right after. Mike sighed."And a vanilla." Mike finished.

"Will that be all?" A girl with short light brown hair asked. "Yes." Mike responded. The girl gave them the ice cream and pointed to a table they could sit at. They sat down, forgetting about will for the second time.

"Hey kid, your next!" The girl said. Wills head shot up from the ground. He slid his headphones off and looked around. "Where's the three people in front of me go?" Will asked.

The girl pointed at the table they were sitting at. Will sighed. "Can I get.. cookie dough?" Will asked. "Yeah sure kid!" She got a cone and scooped some ice cream into it. She gave it to him and he payed. Will sat in the only place that was available. The seat next to Mike.

When Will sat down they all stopped laughing and looked at him. "Where'd you go?" Mike asked. "I was literally right behind you guys." Will scoffed and rolled his eyes, he slipped his headphones back on. "What's your problem?" Mike looked at Will.

Will didn't answer due to his headphones being on. Mike unplugged the headphones and asked again, "Dude, what's your problem!" Will looked at him. "What do you mean–" Will didn't get to finish due to Mikes large mouth that never seemed to stop talking.

"You've been ignoring us, you rolled your eyes multiple times, and your acting like we did something to you!" Mike was confused. Will scoffed.

"Mike how oblivious are you? I obviously feel left out! You somehow forgot to call me, but you remember to call Lucas and Dustin, and then you forget about me every time you do invite me!" Will snatched his headphones back from Mike and plugged into them back up.

Will got up and started walking to the door. He felt a tug at his arm and turned around. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you felt like that Will. I'll include you more!" Mike replied. Will turned back around and shook his arm out of Mikes grasp. He walked out of the mall and went home.

Once Will got home, Joyce wasn't in the kitchen. "Mom!" Will called for his mother. "..." No answer. Will saw a note on the fridge. He walked up to it and read it.

' Hey honey, I went to the food market, I went be back for a while because I also need to visit Hopper! Your Mom<3'

Will finished reading the note and went to his room, as soon as he lied down on his bed a knock on the door disturbed him. He groaned and went to answer the door.

Will opened the door and his eyes widened. Mike was at the door with a pack of skittles. "Hey." Mike flashed Will a smile, the smile that always made Will blush and get butterflies whenever he saw it. Will forced himself not to smile. "Hi." Will replied. "Uhm I got you skittles.." Mike stopped smiling when he realized Will was still mad.

Will knew what Mike was trying to do. It's something he always did when Will was mad or upset with him. He was trying to buy Wills forgiveness. Now if Will was 12, he would have forgiven Mike then and there, but he was 17 now, he knew not to fall for it anymore.

"Okay." Will finally replied and looked at him. "Uhm can I come in?" Mike looked down. "No thanks." Will tried closing the door but Mike stopped him from closing it. "Please." Mike pushed it open. Will eventually got fed up and slammed and locked the door in his face.

His face turned into a confused one. He hadn't touched the door a slight bit. He felt a liquid drip from his nose and heard a small drip go onto the floor. He looked down and looked at the red substance. He cleaned it and went to the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and stepped back in shock.
