The wind darted through the lush, dark forest, stealing secrets from the trees and whispering them to her as she flirted silently between them. Garnet had been following the man for the past few days now, watching as he lured innocent girls into his cabin, and again a few hours later when he returned to the river to dispose of what remained of them. Positioning herself behind the large trunk of a tree, Garnet reached inside her cloak for her dagger, the smooth, cool metal a familiar weight in her palm. As the man strolled arrogantly around the corner and directly into her range, Garnet prepared to strike. Suddenly, her pointed ears pricked as she heard another set of footsteps coming from only a few feet away. She looked towards the sound, sharp eyes spotting a young, blonde-haired girl - probably only a few years her junior - walking straight towards her target. Thinking fast, Garnet leapt out from the shadows, running directly into the man, who caught her with strong arms. "Why hello, my dear," the man said. "My deepest apologies for running into just now. Are you alright?" Garnet plastered an innocent - if slightly startled - smile onto her face, twirling a strand of her ebony hair around her finger.
"Yes, I am not harmed. Do not trouble yourself - I do not wish to be the cause for lines on your most handsome face." Garnet's stomach turned at her sickly-sweet words, but the man ate them all up. A twinkle of her emerald eyes and a bat of her long, dark lashes was all it took to fool his weak, mortal mind; the man would never expect the end he would soon meet.
"You are too kind, my dear. Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Wolfe, but you, pretty one, can call me anything you like."
