MIDNIGHT EP16: Where It All Began at Midnight

THE EVENT hall is filled with fans worshipping their idol. They're all wearing something in similar and how they look happy and giggling over some topic. Whenever I look, all I see is her face and her name on the poster. I reached and stare at her eyes.

"This eyes and this smile..." Where I thought was only meant for me.

"Junseo," I heard Manager Kim called me. "Why did you leave–"

"Stop it,"

I am mad. "Why did you bring me here?"

"Junseo–"

"Shut up!" I pointed at him. "You don't know everything, old man. Why did you bring me here? Why can't she remember me? Why is she pretending? You told her to disown me, huh? You planned this, right?"

"Let me explain, Junseo. Calm do–"

"I don't wanna hear everything!" I yelled. "Let me go! I don't wanna hear it anymore!"

"Junseo, my son." I heard Eomma called me. I was crying when she reached for me and hug. "Are you okay? Are you alright?"

"He hurts me!" I pointed at Manager Kim. "He planned to hurt me, Eomma."

"Yeah, I'm listening." She cups my face pacifying me. "Let's go home, okay?"

I glare at Manager Kim who's just watching me. I'll make him suffer. I won't let him do this again. I won't let him toy with me again. He's trying to kill me. "I will kill you!"

MANAGER KIM

JUNSEO PUSHED me and trying to cause a commotion in the event hall. He was raging in madness when I decided to bring him here. I can't blame the kid though because this is happiness. I watched him walking away from me with her mom by his side.

"Seulgi," I read the name of the girl in the poster. This is what he's been mentioning for the past few months. "His best friend."

I went back to the Hospital and check his progress through the week. It's all just the same. The signs and symptoms are still there. He has a disease that needs treatment in order for him to gain back his strength. He has been confined in this room for years now and in every single day he never fail to show some episodes that is unrelated to his confinement.

I remember the first time he called me by Manager Kim. At first I was a bit confused on why he's giving me names that made me think that maybe he wants us to play something so I decided to give it a chance so he'll get distracted in every medication we've been giving him. By the moment he's calling me as his manager he's showing some progress and even smiling to us far from the grumpy and sick Junseo so I thought it's a great distraction. It worked.

He has been calling me Manager Kim and him as something popular related to a singer. We get along from his created scenario in this closed room. It made me happy that my patient is getting better. He would dance and sing in his room alone that he even assigned some nurses as his fans. We're all playing along for him because we want him to get healed.

Not until one morning I saw Junseo talking to himself. He's changing his voice to some girl with sweet voice and laughing on his own. I pat his shoulder asking who's he talking to? I've been nudging him for seconds but it looks like he drowned from his own imagination that he can't even hear what I'm saying.

"Junseo," I called him after he takes his medicine. "What did you do today? Do you have some new hobbies?"

"Oh, I've been reading this manga." He showed it to me. "It has a great story, Manager Kim. Do you want to borrow it?"
