MIDNIGHT EP12: Where l Felt Safe with You

"I hope you'll also do the same thing, Junseo. I hope you also look for me when I get lost."

I bit my lower lip. Is she okay? Does she need my help? I stare at the ceiling for awhile and came back to my senses when I heard her cuss.

"What—!" She yelled. "Junseo? Why are you still there?"

I blink, "Shouldn't I be here?"

She hit her forehead, "Did you... Did you hear what I said?"

Should I tell her the truth? What will happen next? But she told me lying is better so I think I'll conceal it first.

"What? Did you say something?"

She looks at me, "Are you sure?"

I cleared my throat. "I'm getting curious now, did you just say something? About--about what? Was it about me? Or—no, I don't think so."

She looks intently at me. "I didn't say anything."

Is she trying to hypnotize me? That won't work, Seulgi. I hear it already.

"Really? Why you look like convincing me for something?"

She sighs, "Nope, I'm positive. I'm just looking for stuffs here in my box... And then I cussed many times, that's why I'm being careful because you might get offended."

I wipe the invisible sweat. "No, I won't, just carry on."

She smiled a little. "If you say so."

A short silence after, no one even dare to speak. She's looking at her hands while I watch her.

"Have you experience..." She whispered.

"What?" I answered quickly.

Her eyes widened. "I got you! You heard me earlier!"

"What?"

"I'm speaking with the same tone earlier so you might hear it like you do right now."

I blink multiple times. Is she trying to catch me lying? I know it's crazy but I can feel my heart throbbing.

"Not really, just tell it to me already."

"I won't." She shook her head. "I'm making sure you heard nothing."

"I promise." I bit my inner gums, "Don't you trust me?"

"I trust you." She says nodding her head. "Well, okay... That's not really important."

She smiled cheekily before fixing her phone. "I got my pencils, papers and colors here."

"Yes," I said.

She showed me her fixed table with her art materials. "Now, I want you to tell me something."

"Like?" I ask.

"Anything, I don't know." She started drawing. "Like what's on your mind, if something's bothering you or what."

I scratch my head. Of course it's Miyaki's existence that's bothering me, but I won't tell her that. "You're working very late, Seulgi. You should take a rest."
