The War started in April of 1851, when Duscany Troops were attacked by 150,000 Musketeers and 3,000 Cannons belonging to Esplanade.
The Esplanade Army clashed on the land and seas against the Duscany Army and Navy. It did whatever it could to halt the Grand Duchy from beggining mobilization any further.
Duscany had called its major Ally into the conflict, Xelbia. How it may have seemed to them at the time, they refused to get involved. Their people were expierencing development that they've never seen before.
The Esplanade Empire decided that in order to keep Xelbia out of the war, it had to tariff Xelbian goods. This was a really bad idea, and in 1852 it almost caused Xelbia to join the war.
Esplanade Diplomats scurried and tried to force Xelbia to long arm a Treaty, which only made them refuse and replaced the Treaty with a sheet of paper that said "No restrictions at all. Period".
Esplanade Officials were terrified of a powerful Xelbia entering the war and shifting not only the tide of battle... but affecting their new enemy in the other side of the ocean, the State of Uedea.
Uedea was a growing Empire in the other side of the planet. Xelbia was close enough to where it was affected by their expansion, but not enough to where they're a threat. Xelbia and Uedea have signed many NAP's to reduce the chance of conflict.
The Esplanade Government has decided that the final straw to keeping Xelbia out of the war was to destroy Warships in their respective harbors. This would have its respective reasons for being the worst idea they've had.
