I pulled away from Harry. His eyes dilated and glanced over at the front porch. With a weak push, Daniel shut the entrance door and strolled over to Harry and I in the garden. His hazel eyes were hidden behind a pair of Ray Ban Aviators. He kicked away a few empty cans of paint as he walked.
"Saw your car from upstairs." Daniel mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Y-yeah... just got here." I replied.
"Let's get going then." He smiled at me. I was surprised he didn't mind that Harry had practically destroyed his mother's precious garden. Could he even see behind those dark shades?
"See you later, little bro." Daniel ruffled Harry's hair before holding onto my hand. Harry swiftly moved away from him and gave both of us a somewhat demeaning stare. Daniel didn't seem to notice.
As Daniel slowly tugged onto my hand to lead me to his car, I caught Harry smirking deviously. "Hope your hangover wears off soon." He scoffed, stepping on an empty paint can. Daniel ignored his brother's remark and got into the car.
"Hangover?" I asked, closing the car door.
"Harry says funny things." He chuckled.
I thought to myself for a while. Then I reached over and pulled off his shades. My breath hitched when he turned to look at me with bloodshot eyes. The veins around his pupils were red and slightly protruding.
"Helena... come on" He sighed and rested his forehead against the steering wheel.
"Daniel, how much did you drink last night?" I questioned firmly.
"A few cups."
"More like bottles." I sputtered.
"I was just frustrated." He exhaled deeply. "I felt guilty about what happened last night." He placed his hand on mine.
"And you got Harry into trouble too." I told him. "He didn't even do anything."
"He told you? Why would he tell you that?" His eyebrows furrowed.
"It doesn't matter." I shook it off.
"It does to me." He paused. "Baby, look at me."
Slowly sinking into the car seat, I crossed my arms and gazed outside ignoring Daniel. "Helena. Is Harry bothering you in any way?" He asked heedfully.
"What?"
"I was just wondering if he was... I don't know... flirting with you?" He shrugged. "I mean, I know what my brother is like."
"This has nothing to do with Harry." I shot back.
"Why are you getting so defensive?" He fussed.
"I'm not! Stop assuming things!" My voice trembled as it grew louder. "He's not the one with the drinking problem."
Daniel's usually calm demeanour suddenly changed. His face grew tense and his nostrils flared. He looked away from me. "Are you two that close that he's been sharing all these things with you?" He slurred.
I remained silent and thought of what I said. "And what's with you wearing his t-shirt last night?" He asked.
"What are you implying?" I spat.
"I don't know." He sighed and rubbed his eyes. "I'm sorry, Hel. I'm paranoid." His fingers slid between mine.
"I'm sorry for raising my voice." I apologised. After all, I wasn't too innocent either so I stepped back.

Daniel and I had brunch at an Italian restaurant and resolved our problems. He apologised for assuming things and said he would lessen his alcohol intake and gradually stop. He told me he was going to take a few weeks off college so he can figure out what he wants in life and also because he wanted to be closer to me. He promised he'll strive to make our relationship work because I'm the only thing that really matters to him right now and he couldn't lose me.
