Daniel's POV

I briskly nibbled the tip of a drinking straw as I sat in the waiting room. The soda can was already empty but I continued sucking. When the doctor's office door slowly squeaked open, I crushed the aluminium can in with my perspirating hands. They began to tremor when someone stepped out.

But it wasn't Polly.

I exhaled deeply as I rested against the soft seat. I threw my head back and glanced up at the ceiling. My life was officially ruined. Helena had left me, my mother found out about the whole incident and she's been throwing tantrums. And my future was bleak. I had no clue what I was going to do, especially if the baby was mine. Moving to Gripleville was probably the worst decision I've ever made.

Then there was Harry, my little brother whom I'd protected and cared for all these years. Through thick and thin, I had always been there for him. I still couldn't comprehend why he would plot to steal Helena away from me. Evethough he denied it, I just knew it was his plan. Both of them have left town conveniently at the same time. I couldn't help thinking she was with Harry.

"Daniel." I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"So...?" I enquired, my pulse quickening as I awaited an answer.

Polly sat beside me as she gripped onto the medical papers. "Well..."

"Polly, just tell me. Please." I begged. The tension was killing me.

She looked at me intently with dilated, watery eyes. "It's Josh." She pursed her pale lips when she finished. She diverted her gaze to the ground as she began to cry.

"Oh, God." A strong sensation of relief bathed my system. I relaxed my face and cupped it in my trembling hands. "Are you sure, though?" I asked in a muffled voice. "Since Josh isn't even here and-"

"Yes." She sobbed. "I gave them his blood sample. It's confirmed. I'm sorry for putting you through this."

Helena's POV

"Why are you suddenly so quiet? It's annoying." Harry fussed as we sat on a large velvet sofa in the hotel lobby. He kept poking at my arm until I gave him a response.

"It's nothing. I was just thinking." I replied.

"You look at me oddly too. Do you regret not doing something we could have done?" He joked, his cheeky grin bringing out his dimples.

I nudged him in the arm before scooting closer to him. "Harry..." I muttered, resting my head on his shoulder.

"Yes?" He asked as he took my hand in his.

"Are you... on any kind of medication?" I blurted.

He moved away from me and watched me with narrowed eyebrows. "You looked through my things?"

"No, it fell out of your bag-"

"You can't breach other people's privacy, Helena." He said in a firm tone.

"But I didn't look through anything! It fell out of your bag when I accidentally bumped into it." I explained.

He stayed silent and looked away from me. I took a deep breath as I waited for the right moment to ask him a question. "Is that why you were wreaking your mum's garden the other time?"

"It's none of your business." He asserted, his facial features strained. I furrowed my eyebrows in annoyance as I thought of what to retort.

Our awry conversation was cut off when a bellboy jogged over to us. "Your car is here." He informed, straightening himself up.
