NAMING NOTES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO/NOT IN THE FANDOM:

All Clan cat names are made up of two parts- the prefix and the suffix. For example... "Pebblesong". The prefix is "Pebble". The suffix is "song". The prefix of a Clan cat's name stays the same their whole life, unless for some reason they change it. However, the suffix changes as the cat grows and moves up the ranks.

> Leader's names must have the suffix of "star"-

e.g. Dawnstar, Redstar, Lakestar

>Kit's names must have the suffix of "kit"-

e.g. Tigerkit, Silverkit, Birdkit

>Apprentice's names must have the suffix of "paw"-

e.g. Nightpaw, Leafpaw, Yellowpaw

>When an apprentice becomes a Warrior or a Medicine Cat, the Clan Leader gives them a suffix, usually to do with their appearance, personality, or skills. 

SO FOR EXAMPLE:
 Mistkit is old enough to become an apprentice, so she changes to Mistpaw. Eventually, she passes her final test to become a Warrior, and her Clan Leader takes into account her notoriously long whiskers, so calls her Mistwhiskers. Mistwhiskers grows up and in the end becomes a Deputy, then finally the new Clan Leader, becoming Miststar.
