Desperation

"Are you sure we should be doing this?" I question the group, dropping down from the wall. I wait for the others to fall, Jesse, Daryl, Aaron, Rosita, Tara, Glenn, and Badger.

"What? We're just going on a run, we do this all the time." Aaron speaks up.

"Without guns? Come on, this is a deathwish. And it's five in the morning." I say, letting out a sigh.

"Sun comes up in about an hour." Glenn states.

"Yeah, you and Daryl have your crossbows, we have knives." Jesse shrugs.

"You're not helping." I snap. "What do we need to do a run for anyhow? It's not like we don't have supplies. This doesn't make sense."

"Look, we'll talk along the way, for now, we need to move before the dead start smelling us." Aaron says, adjusting his bag.

I sigh and being walking. This is going to be a long day. I can feel moisture in the air, and I'm not sure if it's due to rain coming, or the morning dew. I shine my flashlight ahead of me, and notice one.

"Walker. Who's got it." I shine my light into it's dead, cold eyes. Looks fresh enough, another W in its' forehead. Tara quickens her pace and stabs it in the left eye, pulling her knife out as the walker falls.

Tara gets back into position and we continue our walk to the city. Something shiny catches my eye, so I shine my light on it. An iPod, with head phones. I snatch it up and for some reason it still has power. I take a headphone and put it in. Enjoying music, again. This place isn't half bad. I feel a hand on my shoulder and jump.

"Hey, relax, it's just me." Glenn whispers.

"Don't. Fucking. Do. That. Glenn." I hiss out.

"It's about the other night. You've been pale, shaky, barely eating. Are you okay? Did he come back?"

"No. I'm getting clean. I can't have that shit, when I'm at risk of being eaten every day. Besides, I don't wanna get on Walter's bad side again."

"Smart. If he gets in your face again, just let someone know."

"Thanks Glenn. I will."

"Alright everyone, listen up," Aaron says, "there's a group that seems to be holed up in one of the high rises, there's a pick up truck little ways down. We'll take that, and find these people. They've got a little kid with them."

We eventually start the truck, and it's luckily got its keys still. I hop in the back and enjoy the breeze. We pass a few walkers, no reason to kill them. We reach the building in no time and head inside.
I see a walker near a couch, seeming as though it's trying to get a victim. I can hear a little girl struggling. I run up behind the walker and force my knife into her head. It drops, revealing a little girl, who's wearing a baseball cap, with short brown hair, and filthy clothes.

"Thanks." She says.

"No biggie. Gotta protect the alive ones. I'm Jessica, these are Jesse, Glenn, Rosita, Badger, Tara, Daryl, and Aaron." I point at everyone as I list their names.

"I'm Clementine. Wait Glenn? I remember you, from the drug store." She takes my hand and pulls herself up.

"Clem? Where's the others?" Glenn questions.

"Lee and Kenny are still with me. The others...." She trails off. "C'mon lets go find them." She starts to lead the group through the building. I notice she has a gun tucked into her pocket.

"Can you shoot?" I ask.

"Yeah. I'm pretty good." She answers.

"Pull your gun out sweetie, we may need it." I instruct, pulling my crossbow out.
