Bruce Yamada pov:

"Funny seeing you here." I turned around. "Hi Vance." "Hey Bruce. Excited to spend an hour after school with me?" "You wish." I walked inside the hall.

I sat down and leaned back in my chair. "Bruce, two days in a row now. What's happening, this isn't like you?" "Just someone." I looked at Vance. "Is making me late all the time." I turned back around. "Okay. I'm going to have to schedule a meeting with your parents." "What? Why? It isn't that serious." I stared at the teacher. "Well whatever is going on, it needs to stop." "Well you- you suck." I stood up and left.

Vance ran after me. "I don't know why you are mad at me. If you didn't want to be late you could've gone off but you decided to stay. Not my problem." "I'm not mad, just annoyed that it was an hour after school. I don't want to spend my Friday in detention, you get what I mean?" "I guess so." "

"Can you help me revise for our English test on Tuesday?" "Yeah, course I can. You know what, come around my house tomorrow and I'll help you there." "Thanks. What's your address?" "17 Wrangler Drive. 12 o'clock." "I'll see you then." "See you." We separated at the end of my road. I didn't realise until he left that we had just walked home together. Cool?

I walked into my house. "I saw you and Vance Hopper walking home!" "Shut up Amy." "Oooo-" "Bruce, don't talk to your sister like that and Amy, don't annoy him." "Sorry daddy." "Sorry dad." "Bruce, me and your mother would like to talk to you in the other room." "Mk."

I sat down in front of them, on the other side of the table. "So, the school called again. You need to stop being late to class. I told them that a meeting was unnecessary and I'd speak with you but this cannot carry on." "I got carried away helping Vance revise." "That's nice, but try to be less late next time." "Yeah. Speaking of revising, Vance is coming around tomorrow. He'll be in my room so don't worry about us being in your way." "Okay, all good."

I sat on the sofa and stretched. "So what did they talk to you about?" "Just school." "You and Vance are close now? Make sure he doesn't affect how you act." "You know that wouldn't happen Amy." "Me and Gwen were talking about him, he's kind of cute right?" "Yeah I guess so." She looked at me. "You like him?" "Not like that. I just think he is good looking, I'm not wrong?" "Mehh. Okay."

Amy rested her head on my shoulder. "Do you think that Vance is a nice guy, below all that tough manliness?" "I've only ever revised with him once. From what I've seen yeah. He can be nice." She nodded. "Can you turn this movie off? It's getting scary." "No, it's getting good."

I covered my mouth and gasped. "Where's the remote?" I grabbed it and turned it over. "Getting good huh?" "Be quiet." "Kids! Dinner is ready."

We sat at the table in silence. "Mom, dad, what would you think of Bruce if he was gay?" "Amy! What the hell?" "I- uhm." My dad stutterer. My mum stayed quiet. "It's just a question." "Bruce is there something you want to tell us?" "No!" I stood up and grabbed my bowl of food. I put it on the counter and stormed upstairs.

I led on my bed with my knees up. "Can I come in?" "Yeah." My dad walked in. "Dad, I'm not gay?" I smiled realising that this whole argument was silly. "You can be whatever you want to be, but I want you to know that whatever you are, me and your mother will accept you." I looked at my dad and smiled. "Thanks, that's good to know." He smiled and left my room, closing the door behind him.

I fell asleep reading a baseball magazine.

"Bruce! Someone is at the door." My mum shouted up the stairs. "SHIT!" "BRUCE, LANGUAGE!" My dad shouted from the other room. I got up and quickly changed. I ran into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

I jogged downstairs but stopped rushing when I saw Vance talking to my mother. She was laughing. Amy was sat at the table staring at him while speaking to someone on the phone, probably Gwen. "Uh, Vance! Sorry I just got up." "You're all good." He looked at me and smiled. I've never seen him so happy/nice looking before. Probably an act for my parents.

I grabbed his hand and pulled him up the stairs. "Uh, this is my room. It's supposed to be clean. I tried my best." "It's fine, much better than mine." "That's good." "You can let go off my hand now unless I have somewhere else to be." "Oh right." I let go. I grabbed some paper and sat at my desk. I grabbed a chair and put it next to me. "Come on, sit."

I left him to read some books and notes I took from our English lessons. I stood behind him, tying his hair up. "It won't get in your face now." "Thanks." I sat back down next to him. "I'm done." "Okay. Shall we do the same as last time?" "Mhm." "Okay, you can go lay down on my bed and I'll be done in about 5 minutes." "Can I watch you?" "Course you can."

Vance really did watch me. He kept looking at the cards and then at me.

"I defy you-" "Stars." "Correct. Uh- What's the quote, Fair is Foul, and-" "Foul is fair." "Correct. That's it." Vance yawned. "That only took 2 hours." "Mhm." He got out of my seat and got into my bed. "Come on, you aren't sleeping now are you? It's only 12pm." "I'm tired. Memory games are tiring." "Okay. Can you at least move up so I can sit next to you?" "Nope." "Fine." I sat on the bed and rolled him over. I got under the covers and led next to him, my back facing his.

"Can we go to the shop? It's got-" "Your pinball machine. I know." "So can we?" "Of course we can." "Cheers." He sat up. I didn't budge. Once I'm in my bed I can't get out. "Get out. I cant get out if you're in the way." My bed was against the wall. "Mmmkkk." He rolled over me. He then grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my bed. "Ouch." I stood up and stretched. "Come on let's go."

I walked downstairs, leaning against Vance. He kept pushing me away from him. I almost fell down the stairs. "Wow?" "Shut up, you were the one leaning on me." "Yeah okay whatever." My dad sat at the table drinking a coffee. I looked at him. "I told you, I'm not gay!" Vance stopped. "Neither am I, sir." "Mmmhhmmm." He nodded in the 'I know you are' way.
