In the beginning, there was Khaos. An amalgamation of nothing. A raging storm that never was.

From Khaos sprung forth the first gods, the Primordials. The void was struck with the necessity to create. The earth clashed with the sky and the two entangled with each other. Light chased after darkness and created the cycle of night and day. Air filled the space between earth and sky, and was decorated across its boundless expanse by clouds and rainfall. The night became littered with stars and rain sprinkled water across the land that gathered into a vast ocean. Elsewhere the air dried and fields withered, creating deserts, and deep beneath the earth formed an endless pit.

The Primordials were mindless, without thought or reason as either had yet to exist. The first Primordial to gain sentience was Physis. From her, the laws of nature were established and sentience spread, taking root in the others.

Of these eldest primordials, there were twelve: Chronos of time, Eros of love, Ananke of necessity, Metis of creation, Gaia of the earth, Ouranos of the sky, Nyx of darkness, Aether of light, Hydros of water, Thalassa of the sea, Tartarus of the pit, and Physis of nature.

Armed with ideas and ambitions, the sky god Ouranos seized rulership over all. To grow his power, he sought out Physis and convinced her to relinquish her essence 一 absorbing it into himself. Ouranos then took Gaia as his companion. Together they enforced their rule onto the other Primordials. When they came to birth offspring, Ouranos was disgusted at the eldest ones' monstrous forms and imprisoned them deep beneath the earth. Angering Gaia and inciting her wrath.

There were consequences to the actions of Ouranos. For Physis, the former overseer of nature had a consort, the Primordial of time, Chronos. At the loss of his partner, he lamented. Having learnt of Chronos' weakened state, a younger of the Primordials came to the keeper of time and devised a cruel plan. The young god promised to avenge Chronos' lover if the elder Primordial allowed the young god to absorb his powers. Chronos agreed and breathed his essence into the young god, ceasing the elder Primordial's corporeal form. The young god honoured his predecessor by taking the name Kronos. Next, the young god deceived Gaia into making something that could forcefully end the life of a god 一 the first weapon, an adamantine sickle. Weapon in hand and followed by fifteen other young gods, Kronos castrated Ouranos and murdered him. From his body spilled forth the essence of Physis and it formed into hers and Chronos' lone children, the Furies; the embodiments of vengeance and the punishers of wrongdoers.

The sky trembled and in his final moments, Ouranos uttered a decree that became written in the very nature of existence;

As I fall from my throne, so too do my successors, for they strain to reach for power that is not their own, these titans.

Henceforth were these traitors called the Titans. They took ownership of their elder Primordials domains. The Titaness Eurybia broke and subdued the great Hydros and calmed the raging water that had begun to flood the earth. Oceanus and Pontus dwelled peacefully beneath the salty seas of Thalassa who had fallen into an eternal slumber. Beyond the depths of safety, lurked Ceto and Phorcys along with their monstrous children. Kronos took to dominating the earth and forcing Gaia to the confines of her mind while the Titaness Rhea formed mountain peaks and forests to heal the wounds that Kronos inflicted. The light of Aether was absorbed into the brilliance of Theia and her companion Hyperion. As old was replaced, so too were new concepts created. Iapetus and Clymene, mortality and fame. Coeus and Phoebe, intellect and prophecy. Crius and his constellations, Themis with her divine law, and Mnemosyne with her memory. Finally, there were Ophion and Eurynome who took to creating fauna and flora that began populating the land, sea and sky.
