Oh goodness, for a daily stroll that was rather extraordinary, I may actually have a real-live friend. Other than o course Giana, who had been my best friend for all my life until she moved a year ago, after the invasion.
"Lainey dear, it's is three o'clock, time for the afternoon stroll." My father exclaimed. "Yes father." I replied hastily.
"Honey, is something wrong" my mother asked interrogatively.
"No mom."
"Lainey Beth Crawford what utter violent words just came out of that mouth of yours? She asked.
"Oh dear, pardon me mother my head is not on the swivel today, I apologize."
"Good gracious Mary, what in the world happened, you don't believe in raising your voice."
"Oh nothing to worry about sweetheart, I will just be accompanying Lainey on her afternoon stroll, that is all."
"Mother no, I am thirteen years I can escort myself thank you very much."
"So be it then, while out please stop at the grocers market and purchase one carton of milk and a quart of fat free skim milk, I love you sweetheart."
"I love you to moth-"
And she had left in a flash to the study for the afternoon reading hour. She couldn't ruin my mood today, hopefully Maximus would be at the park. As I left I quickly stopped at the grocers market and purchased the items instructed, I hustled out aware that he may have already left if he even was there in the first place, I walked towards the spot we met yesterday but no one was there. Why must I be so gullible, I never had a friend he was most likely using me, trying to get away from the posture freak like everyone else.
"Lane."I felt a hand grasp my back, who ever it was just called me Lane.
"Pardon, I beg to differ sir you must be mistaken my name is Crawford, Lainey Crawford to be precise, I bid you farewell." I said without even looking back.
"Oh, sorry Lainey its me Maximus."
I quickly turned, seeing Maximus lit me up inside I was happy to feel that someone actually cared. And just as he had promised, there standing next to him was a small young American girl, she looked about nine.
"Hello, I'm Lainey."
"Maximus, why is she talking to me I'm a stranger."
"Jane, this is Lainey the girl j told you I met yesterday."
"Oh, hi Lainey, my name is Jane, and j am nine years old and my address is 5535 English Perch road and my phone number is 56-" Maximus had cut her off.
"Jane that is enough, Lainey meet me here at three, bye... Jane hop on my back I will carry you home."
"Oh, Maxi got a girlfriend, Maxi got a girlfriend." I couldn't help laughing about this first, Maxi? Oh goodness that is wonderful, second she thought that Maximus and I were dating, no I'm to young and I don't like Maximus that much were just friends, friends I like the sound of that.
