"Mother, I am leaving towards the park."
"Absolutely not, Lainey why have you been so eager to stroll to the park these days?"
"Mother, nothing is wrong, I promise."
"Dear, I am coming along with you today."
"No, you can't mother ple-"
"Lainey Beth Crawford you may not yell at me, I am your mother and no matter what you say or think I am coming with you."
"Fine!"
That just ruined my day, oh gracious I really hope Maximus isn't there if he is I am in trouble. Mother and I walked towards the grocer's and rounded the corner on Jefferson's Avenue. I soon felt an odd feeling the type gotten when you are being followed. I turned noticing a strange man in a black trench coat and a hat with a terrifying grin smacked on his face following us.
"Mother, that man behind us is starting to scare me."
"Lainey, don't worry about it just enjoy the stroll you wanted to go on."
But I wasn't sure, he turned in to the bakery on 5th Avenue still staring. The park was ahead and I was scared that Maximus would be there, I prayed to differ. But of course as luck would have it, he and Jane sat on the same bench just as usual. I gestured a motion to leave and that I would be back tomorrow but he didn't understand, neither did mother who stared at me, questioning me, studying me.
"Lainey, what are you doing?"
"Oh, um I am... Swatting a fly."
"Oh? Then let's go talk to that boy you were gesturing to."
She caught me, she knew I had been gesturing to Max, that was my new nickname for him. Darn, your logic mother.
"Hello sir, and who might you be?"
I interrupted, "Mother, this is Maximus he is new here from California."
"Yes, ma'am, that is true."
"And why did you move to London, Maximus?"
"Oh, my dad is in the navy."
"Huh, Lainey I can see where the bad manners have come from."
"Young man, I am forbidding you to see or talk to my daughter again, I bid you farewell."
Max looked shocked, I felt shocked I had to do something, my life can't go back to being normal.
"Mother no, Maximus is my friend, is anything wrong with that?"
"Lainey, you will never see him again that is final!"
I sobbed, and ran home I jumped into bed and locked my door I would knot talk to mother again, and I meant it."
