JANUARY 8TH, 1:03 PM

vance was on his way back to his place. it was a chilly day, vance could feel the wind rush against his neck and ears.

after a couple of minutes, vance finally made it home. he saw his dad blacked out on the couch with a couple of beer cans surround the man.

vance entered his bathroom and began to brush his teeth. he then splashed some cold water to really wake him up, and then he headed to his bedroom closet to search for clothes.

after minutes of deciding, he put on a plain white shirt, a black zip up hoodie, baggyish jeans, and some silver necklaces to top it off.

as for bruce, he brushes his teeth, washes his face, and begins to think about what to wear.

a lot of his clothes were currently in the wash, so there weren't a lot of options.

he found a grandpa sweater, which he hadn't worn in a really long time, but it was the only one available. he also found beige corduroy pants hiding in the back of his closet, so he dug that out and put it on.

bruce made his way to the couch and waited for vance to arrive. while waiting, he went on his phone and scrolled around instagram.

about ten minutes pass, and vance makes it to bruce's place. he knocks on the door. as soon as bruce heard the knock, he jumped out of his seat and ran to open the door.

"hey! i'll be ready in a second, i just have to put my shoes on," bruce says to the blonde.

vance simply nods in return and watches bruce silently put his shoes on.

"c'mon, let's go. the bus is gonna be here in a bit." vance walks off the porch and waits for bruce to catch up with him.

the two walk in silence before they finally arrive to the stop.

"which bus are we gonna take?" bruce asks, trying to start some talk.

"we're taking the 76. you've never taken the bus downtown?" vance looks slightly down to the other.

"nope, i rarely go downtown. my parents don't like me going there because they think there's a bunch of druggies and just homeless people in general," bruce replied with a shrug.

"ha," vance began, "they're not wrong about that. i go there pretty often. it's way easier to steal from there than the mall here. the mall has so many fucking cameras and beeping thingies. it's so annoying, but i don't care."

"have you ever gotten caught before?" bruce was really curious about this boy. stealing, drinking, partying, but overall just being a big softie on the inside?

"yeah, tons of times. that's why i don't go to the mall anymore. downtown's better. more people our age that work at stores and don't even care when they catch you stealing," vance explained.

"ah, i see." bruce nodded.

the bus arrives after a bit of time. it's empty, only about two people, not including bruce and vance, on the bus. they get on and sit in the back.

"you can take a nap or something if you want. it'll take like 45 minutes to get there. sorry for not warning you beforehand," vance apologized.

"it's fine, you don't have to apologize." bruce grinned at the blonde. god, how many times does this boy grin per day??

"you're a really nice person bruce. that's why everybody likes you," vance muttered quietly, but loud enough just for bruce to hear.

"well, i wouldn't say everyone," bruce pointed out.

"dude, you have so many girls in line just to hop on your dick. every girl in school wants you," vance remarked with a slight scoff.

"i'm sure a lot of girls like you vance. you're kinda like that bad boy every girl has been dying to get of a glimpse of," bruce laughed.

"ok, don't ever call me a bad boy ever again. that was cringy as shit." vance softly elbowed the shorter one.

"my bad, my bad!" bruce elbowed vance back jokingly.

the two talked more and more during the bus ride. every now and then, there would be a random cloud of awkwardness and it would just be silence, but one or the other would start up some new conversation.

"oh hey, the next stop's ours," vance points out.

vance pulls the string to signal that they wanted to get off at that stop. they stood up and once the bus stopped, they stepped out and were welcomed by the cold air, smell of smoke, honking, and different music playing in the background.

"do you wanna grab something to eat? we could go get pretzels at auntie anne's or get some chinese," vance suggests.

bruce replies, "i'm not that hungry, but if you are, we can eat something."

"nah, i'm good. let's go to the jewelry store, i wanna get some stuff."

the duo walked to the small jewelry store. in the shop, there was a girl behind the counter, maybe a college student? there were some other people. bruce saw someone stuffing some earrings and a few bracelets in their bag, and just walking out. a few others did the same, but bruce didn't really care.

vance and bruce walked over to the necklaces and saw the rack of beautiful jewelry. some rip off vivienne westwood, chains, all sorts of stuff.

"these are really pretty, vance! i really like these necklaces," bruce state as he gazed at the collection.

"yeah, they're pretty cool," vance responded as he stuffed a few chain necklaces into his pocket. "c'mon, let's head out now."

"ah, alright." bruce follows vance out the door and they enter a candy store next door. (a/n doctor suess WHOOOO)

the duo look at the beautifully decorated candy and chocolate surrounding them in different kinds of jars and packaging.

"i think i came here once when i was younger," bruce points out as he scans the room.

"it's a nice spot," vance replied awkwardly.

bruce gets a stick of marshmallows covered in chocolate. vance doesn't get anything, since he doesn't eat sweet stuff too much.

they both share the marshmallows. vance thought it was too sweet for his liking, but bruce absolutely LOVED it and became obsessed with it.

"hey vance, how you doin'?" a voice said behind the two.
