Kiri tied my hair up as we were getting ready together to go to the Mate festival.
"Kiri, it's been 2 days here, and I'm getting a sign for Eywa. You cannot tell me you are not sensing this too. You cannot," I said, hoping she would agree with me, so I stopped looking like such a creep.
"You have already asked me this. No I have not, I feel weird though," She said, patting me back letting me know we were ready. I stood up.
"I'm sorry but I think I'm going insane," I said. Kiri smiled at me.
"You are not going insane ok?" She asked shaking me as I sighed and smiled.
"Ok Kiri," I said as we left the hut. I looked t Kau'i who looked so pretty. "Do you have a date or something?" I asked her. She rolled her eyes.
"No (Y/n) I do not," She said, very sharp with an attitude.
"What is wrong?" I asked her.
"Nothing, I'm just tired," She replied. I nodded as I walked into the Sully's bungalow, to see my mom and Neytiri getting ready together, Jake and Lo'ak helping each other, and Neteyam doing Tuk's hair. Etayna was running somewhere with some friends he made that were apart of the Metkayina clan.
"Hey (Y/n)" Lo'ak said, nodding as Neteyam looked up. I saw him smile from the corner of my eye.
"You got a date?" I said happily. He nodded.
"Sort of, I kind of asked Tseriya, and kind of didn't. Kau'i is going with Aonung," He said, Kau'i immediately got a angry look on her face. My eyes widened.
"Lo'ak! You skxawng! What the hell is wrong with you," Kau'i said, hissing. Everyone's attention turned to her.
"Aonung? Really?" I asked. I didn't mean to sound mean, I was just surprised.
"Oh hush (Y/n) just because you have a mate when your young and just because your happy and all you talk bout is your mate to me, doesn't mean we are all happy," She said raising her voice.
"Woah woah calm down. I wasn't disproving at all," I said. She closed her mouth and looked at the floor. I looked at Neteyam who smirked at me. I rolled my eyes playfully.
"Why didn't you tell us Kau'i?" My mother asked. Putting her hand on her shoulder.
"I thought you guys would get mad at me," Kau'i said looking at the groung.
"No we wouldn't, we are just surprised," My mom said. Kau'i hugged her.
"Sorry (Y/n)," She said. I smiled.
"It is alright Kau'i," I said, as Etayna came running in.
"I saw a really really big fish, and it was really nice, and this girl said I was cute," He said jumping up and down, I went over to him and picked him up.
"Stay still, I am going to get you ready for tonight," I said, washing sand off of his face.
"We are leaving soon, everybody get ready. Other Na'vi are leaving," My mom said, as Jake got his things ready and went up to Neytiri. Etayna ran away from me as I stood up.
Everybody started to leave. "I forgot to ask you, would you go to the festival with me?" Neteyam asked, I laughed and put my arms around him.
"Of course Neteyam," I said as he kissed me. We walked out hand in hand.
When we arrived at the festival it was such a pretty sight. The water was lit up, there was a fire in the middle of a sitting area, and a platform for all the new mates to stand on. Tseriya came up to all of us.
"I'm so glad you guys are here, welcome to the Gwahnu. Or the mate festival, There is dancing, food, and it's so fun!" She said so excitedly. I leaned my head over to get a good sight of Lo'ak who was smiling hard, but hiding it. Tseriya grabbed his hands and dragged him over to the dance floor and started dancing. We all sat down in one area. Tonwari and Ronal came up.
"Jake Sully, I'm glad you all made it," Tonwari said. I nodded at him, doing the I see you gesture.
"Thank you Olo'eyktan for inviting my family to come," Jake said. I looked at Ronal. She smiled at me. I smiled back.
"Welcome to Gwahnu," Ronal said to me.
"This look's fun," I said, as she smiled and her and Tonwari walked away. "This reminds me of home, our festivals," I said, getting memories and a churn to my stomach.
"That's what I was thinking," Neteyam said. "I hope we go back after the sky people stop,"
"They might not stop until they have me and Jake. They want me because I'm as close to my dad as they can get," I said to Neteyam as he pulled me closer to him.
"There not going to get you though, ever. I'm making sure of that" He said with a straight face, as I was now lying in his lap.
"Yes sir," I said laughing. I noticed Aonung walking up to us. I playfully kicked Kau'i as she smiled and stood up, taking Aonungs hand. "That's gross he is like a year or two older then her."
"That is not a big difference, relax let her be," Neteyam said.
"That is my little sister, with another man, I have to be careful of her," I replied, sitting up, but resting my head on Neteyams shoulder. It was kind of cold tonight, and he was warming me up.
"You feel cold, here," He said, wrapping his arms around me, so I was now leaning up against him. I was so comfortable to the point I could fall asleep. I kissed his shoulder because that is the only place my head could reach. Then Ronal and Tonwari came up on the speaker.
"Metkayina's!" Tonwari shouted, raising his spear. Everyone shouting cheering loudly. I smiled. My mom, Jake, and Neytiri were cheering loudly.
"We should go somewhere else, it's just us and the parent's," Neteyam said. I nodded as we moved to another place in the sand, farther away from then, him holding me away.
"The Na'vi of our clan! We watch you grow, and find love! And we watch you express that on this night!" Tonwari said. "All the new mates, come up now!" He said as about 10 people came up. They were all young, probably around the age of 18-20, and all look very happy.
Tonwari did a whole ceremony where he tap's them with a shell, and Ronal makes a prayer to Eywa for them. It was very sweet. Just then, they all started slow dancing. Aonung and Kau'i joined, and Tseriya and Lo'ak joined in also. Neteyam looked at me.
"No way," I said. "We would be the only non Metkayina's there."
"That's the whole point, come come ma (Y/n)" Neteyam said. I groaned as I let him pull me up. We went into the dance floor as we danced, him holding me. "I want to stay this close to you forever," Neteyam said. I smiled.
"Nga Yawne lu oer M'teyam," I said, tiredly, against him.
The night went on for a while, and surprisingly it was really fun. I drank their tropical drink, and Neteyam and I also got blessed by Ronal. We were officially mated in the Metkayina clan. That night, Neteyam slept in out Bungalow with me. I haven't felt this close to him in a while.
