Author Note: I changed Brenda to Brett because imagining Brett from Inside Job is more fun than a random character.

SM=Step mom

D= Velmas dad

Velma: My name is Velma Dinkley. ( thunder rumbling )

Steps onto wood ( creaking )

Theater scene: Velma in front of person with brain scooped out in front of here with cheerleaders and theater kids in the background

Velma: And these are the events that lead to where I am now, reliving the past before my very eyes as a monster stands in front of me.

Velma has a panic attack and runs out, bumping into Fred.

This next part was done better by "Jamie De Jonge" on YouTube called:
"I re-wrote the meeting between Fred and Velma from the HBO series 'Velma' because I had to" (feel free to watch that instead of this next part)

Velma: Sorry, Fred!

Fred: Do I know you?

Velma: I would hope so, we've been in the same classes for years.

Fred shrugs and turns away. He clicks his tounge tsk

Fred: Well, unlike you the bell is about to ring.

(Return here after video)

Daphne: Oh, Fred. Thank goodness you're here! Brett's dead!

Daphne leans in for a hug but Fred flinches back

Fred: N-! Not now Daph.

Velma: Do either of you have any idea who did it?

Daphne: Why do you want to know? You shouldn't butt your head in where it doesn'are belong.

Velma sighs

Velma: Ok, well thanks for nothing

At Velmas house

Vs Dad: How was your day honey?

V: Well, it was kind of-

Vs step Mom/SM: It was fine, the baby was kicking a lot today

V sighs

V: under her breath: Of course

The dad notices V

D: Oh hey there Velma, didn't notice you came in. What's up?

V: Nothing

Velma goes into her room and breaks down crying

V: I just have to make it past high school. Don't feel, breath and don't let it show. Strong people don't cry.

Velma runs outside to get some air into a alleyway and has a panic attack

( whimpering )

Fred: Hello?

( whimpering )

V: You're not real. You're not real. You're not real.

Fred: I am real!

( both grunt )

Fred: Velma?

V: You remembered my name?

Fred: ( Gasps )

Velma: What are you doing out here, Fred?

Fred: I guess since I never see you, I can tell you. I'm trying to pull myself together so I can be the man my father expects me to be. And I want to be as manly as him. But since Brenda died, I can't stop crying like a total baby.

Velma: Hey, hey. It's okay. I get it. I have this whole thing with my mom.

Fred: Did she put her cigars out on you?

Velma: Uh, no. My mom smoked cigarettes. Figuring that out was the first mystery I ever solved.

V: Actually... My mother wrote mysteries. She gave me little mysteries to solve while she worked and smoked. Like the case of the missing idea juice. But eventually, I grew bold, and sought mysteries of my own. One day I steakly opened my xmas presents early. Turns out it was less fun when the time came. My mom saw this and realized what happened. But still, my mom felt so bad for me, she ran out to buy something I could unwrap Christmas morning. That was the last time I ever saw her. That night, the police found my mom's car abandoned and empty, except for her glasses, and a single wrapped gift for me. I felt so guilty that it was my mystery solving that had caused her to go missing, that's when the horrifying hallucinations started.

Fred: *Blinks and forces a smile and the best comforting he can but Velma thanks him for listening, saids she hopes he feels better too and leaves, walking outside back to her house.

Voices: This is all your fault, Velma.

( Tires screech )

N: Velma! There you are!

V: Norville? What the hell?

N: You didn't answer my voice mails.

I wanted to talk to you about- (he reaches out but puts his hand back)

... The homework

V: Just send it via insta like normal

You look like you were having another one of your hallucinations again. Is everything ok?

V: I'm fine

N: Well, guess what? One of the cheerleaders dropped her camera and left before I could return it and take a look

V: What is that?

N: Some terrible photoshop to say the least

V has a faint smile

Velma clutches her fist and puts it to her heart. ( Screams )

N: Velma, what is this? Did you eat all the gummy vitamins again?

Velma: ( grunting ) ( gasps, coughs )

N: There you go. Get it all out. ( coughing ) Yep. Okay. Oh, boy. Still more.

V: ( sighs ) I'm sorry. I'll see you later and get back to you about the homework later.

Velma goes back home

D: I heard about what happened to Brett

V: Oh good, because I was thinking she figured out the secret to your diner's popularity and that wouldn't have been good.

D: A) There isn't any secret to it. Just good food, great tunes. And I let teens have sеx in the bathroom. And B) I'm sorry I didn't believe you about your hallucinations. But, Velma, I told you this. Your mother didn't go missing because you "solved a mystery." She left us.

La, la, la, la, la, la, la. No, she didn't. Something bad happened to her, and it's my fault. Because if Mom just left us, it means she didn't love us.

D: Sure, you were a bit of a handful but it's not because of that.

V: Dad, but I was...

Alice starts puking

The dad pats Velma on the back and goes to SM
