As the master of the place, she showed them different important spots, they would have to remember, leaving the rest for them to discover. The siblings did not have much things on them, nonetheless they went to settle in their new rooms.
Tanjiro, not having much of his own, quickly went in, noticing a second bed, where the covers had been thrown on the ground. He wondered whose bed it could be. His first intuition was the boisterous boy who pushed his sister, yet, he remembered the violinist.
As he left with her, they passed by the twin tailed girl. A groan was heard when she entered in his new bedroom.
Although he wanted to understand what she was irritated by, supposing it was probably his belongings — But he neatly tidied them up ? — his sister tapped on his shoulder, pointing with her chin towards the annoyed sounds, followed by grumbling, and tilted her head to the side. He concentrated and hit his fist in his palm, making the other one yelp in surprise.
"She was really nice. She told me not to worry because thou sure hadst talent." He nudged her. "See ? I am not the only one who believes so !"
She turned around, seeing the closing the door, the leaving girl a basket full of sheets under her arm. Her heart fluttered.
So kind.
Not so long after, they reached her room. The young teenager was about to open the door, but she stopped him.
"Thou art right. Thou shouldest do it !"
She shook her head, frowning at the obliviousness. She pointed the end of the corridor and him. Then, her and the door.
He realized.
"I forgot someone was probably here as well. Please, do not let it be a boy." She huffed, punching him in his arm for his foolishness. "Hey, I just want my baby sister to be safe !"
The door slightly opened, the pale mauve eyes scrutinizing the newcomers, narrowing with apprehension.
"Oh ! Hello, Kanao." He smiled. If it was this little precious girl, he did not mind the slightest. Wait–
- So, you are my new roommate. I should have seen it coming." A metallic sound was heard from behind the door. She moved to the side, opening wider for them to enter. "Come in."
Nezuko gladly made her way in, putting her heavy case on the mattress. Tanjiro just stayed there, feeling his heart quicken his pace at the gentleness of her voice. She was soft-spoken, yet it had its own melody. When he discerned her waiting, looking blankly at the ground, he followed with the second suitcase. His sister was sure coquette, taking far more clothes than needed.
The scent in the room took him aback, making him stumble. The sweet fragrance that filled the room was mostly made from Lily of the Valley, rose and cyclamen.
"You are the one that smelled like that !" he recognized, turning swiftly towards her.
He understood it was too late when she flushed red, and looked down, gripping her arm.
"N–no, that's not like that ! You smell very good in fact. Was it strange ? I am sorry. I– How can I make it up to you ? I– Nezuko ! Don't push me, I am trying to–"
The door closed behind him.
She bend down, letting her hair drop like a waterfall, gracefully, past her shoulders. A metal clank was heard.
"D–do not worry." She glanced at her new roommate. She was really pretty — and cute — all bashful. "He did not insult me in any way."
The younger one stood up, hands on her hips and huffed. The brunette laughed quietly, a thin smile growing on her rosy lips.
She triturated a coin, and finally tossed it in the air. It fell down.
It was definitely a surprising day.
"If you have any question, you can always ask me or Miss Shinobu." She stopped. "I mean... Since you do not talk... Do you know how to write ?"
In spite of being able to say "Yes.", she nodded. Their mother taught them, and pushed them to read a lot and write. She pushed them to live their passion.
Come to think of it, Nezuko always wondered how her parents — now dead parents — knew about it. They were not rich, and their past remained a mystery to their six children — four of them being dead.
A snap was heard. A few inches in front of her, were emotionless whistles staring deep into hers.
"I am sorry. You spaced out. Do you do that a lot ?"
Without having the possibility to explain herself, the other one was already sitting on her bed brushing her hair. A strange taste rose in her mouth as she watched the maiden doing it like an automaton, staring into her own eyes in her reflection.
She hit lightly her cheeks, and started to put away her clothes. Another metallic sound. Then silence. A second, a third, a fourth one.
She turned and caught sight of the coin falling on her hand.
"Does it disturb you ?" She asked raising one of her thin eyebrows. She responded by the negative. "Good. Because I use it to make choices."
Waiting before pursuing :
"If you ever need something, you can ask me or anyone in here."Another one.
At this point, Nezuko had given up on trying to translate with movements what she wanted to say, for lack of paper and pencil.
"Be careful around here."
What ?
That was something new. She furrowed her brows.
The golden piece stroke up in the air again, reflecting light on the walls.
"People around here are nice, however they have their antics. Zenitsu, for example. The blond boy : he is very sweet, but he is a skirt-chaser, he likes to flirt. Do not let him imagine you are interested. He cries a lot, but he will get over it."Her ethereal voice said. "Unless you have something for him."
The young teenager gathered her thoughts, and identified who it was. She shook her head. It was way to early — even if her brain showed her images of the young man again, and again.
