SAM, JUNE, & PENNY

All three of them are gathered in a small circle on the floor.

"Okay, so obviously we need to figure out how we're going to get out of here," Penny states.

Sam and June both nod.

"Lewis isn't exactly going to make this easy," She continues.

"Shouldn't he have said something by now?" Sam asks, looking up at the ceiling.

"I don't know. He can be pretty unpredictable," Penny shrugs in response.

Sam glances over at June. She's spaced out. He snaps in front of her face, pulling her out of her trance.

"Sorry," she mumbles.

"You good?" he asks quietly.

June nods. He doesn't really believe her.

"Have we tried to just open the door?" June asks.

Penny and Sam look at each other.

"It's worth a shot," Sam says shrugging.

Penny sighs and gets up. She turns the door knob. No click. The door's locked, as suspected.

"Well, that's a no."

She joins the other two back on the floor.

"I'm sure he'll say something eventually. We should just wait," Sam suggests.

Penny hesitates.

"Well, we don't really have much of a choice," June states.

All three of them agree to wait.

ONE HOUR LATER

"Uuuggghhh! He's never going to come on!" Penny groans.

"It's been one hour!" She continues to whine.

She looks over at Sam and June. They're sitting next to each other in silence. Penny shuts herself up, remembering they're still grieving. She notices their expressions.

"They look so empty," She thinks to herself.

Penny doesn't really know what to do. On one hand, she wants to go over to them and try to make them feel better, but on the other hand she wants to just leave them alone so she doesn't feel awkward. She ends up going with the first option and walks over to sit down on the floor, a few feet away from them.

"S-so...how um..h-how close were you guys? You know, w-with all of your f-friends?" she asks.

Great. Why did the stutter have to pop out now? It had been gone for four years now, but it occasionally snuck in from time to time.

"Close," June responds bluntly.

Penny nods awkwardly. Now she doesn't know what to say. It's pretty obvious they're not interested in talking with her. Realizing this, she gets up.

"Wait," June stops her as she's about to walk away.

"Sorry. I'm just kind of out of it right now," June apologizes.

Penny turns around and shows her a small smile.

"I-It's fine. I-I get it."

June sighs and motions for Penny to sit back down. Penny, surprised, listens and takes her place back on the floor.

"Our whole group wasn't completely formed until high school. James and I were freshmen while Sam was a sophomore. Phoenix, Brooke, Kira, and April were all Juniors and Liam was a senior," June starts to explain.
