BROOKE & APRIL

"Any idea what time it is?" April asks.

"How am I supposed to know?" Brooke asks in response.

Out of the corner of her eye, Brooke suddenly spots something in the corner of the room. A table with a drawer. It's always been there, but something about it seems different. Brooke gets up off of the floor and walks over to it.

"I'm starving," April mutters.

"Think about food later, April. Right now, we need to focus on finding everyone else," Brooke says, taking a closer look at the table.

"But I haven't eaten in soooo looong," April whines.

"April, you ate yesterday," Brooke turns to her.

"Yeah, one sandwich. You think that's going to be enough for two days, let alone one? I was starving for all of yesterday!"

Brooke rolls her eyes.

"Stop talking about food and get over here."

April groans as she gets up and waddles over to Brooke.

"What?" she asks, bending over slightly.

"Look at this."

Brooke points at a small keyhole in the drawer of the table.

"What about it? Wasn't that always there?"

Brooke shakes her head.

"This is a different table. The other one had a drawer, but there was no keyhole. It was just a knob."

"Hm, well if there's a keyhole, there has to be a key somewhere in this room."

Brooke's face drops. She looks at April.

"Well no shit, April,"

April rolls her eyes. Brooke sighs. The girls take a quick scan of the room.

"Where would Lewis hide a key?" Brooke asks herself.

"He wouldn't put it somewhere obvious. Maybe it's like, hidden in the floors or in the walls," April says ominously.

"Don't be stupid, April."

"Being stupid is the only thing I'm good at."

Brooke pauses.

"Not true. You're good at eating."

April raises her hand to hit her but Brooke dodges it, slightly laughing.

"Can we just find this stupid key?!"

"Okay, okay," Brooke responds, her laughter dying down.

ONE HOUR LATER

"Ugh, Brooke, just stop already!"

Brooke ignores her remarks.

"Come on. We're not going to find anything today. We've already checked every nook and cranny of this room and found nothing. Just give up and let's go to sleep," April whines.

Brooke groans.

"Okay, fine!"

She sighs in defeat.

"We'll just keep looking in the morning," she mutters.

Brooke wanders over to the blankets with April and both girls settle in.
