James was eventually proven right; because music suddenly erupted in the Gryffindor Common Room, while students gathered alcohol and the rest of the school were on the dance floor.Athena was one of the first to flee, having a cup in one hand and being tangled in Gideon Prewett's hold. The ginger boy had his hands placed lazily against her hips, swaying them as they moved to the music.
And, not too far away were Lily and Amos, but that wasn't the problem in James' case.
His eyes were fixed onto the Slytherin girl, and she was smiling. The smile was like he enjoyed looking at.
That smile. The genuine smile.
"Mate," James flinched when Remus gently nudged him, the scarred boy raising an eyebrow at him. "Staring at her won't make it better."
James averted his eyes to the happy couple, Lily and Amos, but his heart didn't feel like it dropped when he looked at them; not that he was aware of it.
"It's a bit hard when Evans is with someone else, Moony." James said, rolling his eyes.
"We both know I wasn't speaking about Lily."
James was left dumbfounded and confused, and if Remus caught him looking at Athena, what would happen? Whenever he couldn't help himself, or whenever she'd just come into his mind, she could read it.
Maybe she read his mind while he was thinking of her?
"You like her, Prongs." Remus said, his expression calm, "and that's okay."
James shook his head, "I don't like Athena."
"Then how did you know who I was talking about?"
James' brows furrowed, "what?"
Remus felt his lips curl up, "I didn't mention her name."
"Y-you did!"
"No," he hummed. "I didn't."
James stood stock-still for a couple of seconds, feeling his cheeks grow pink.
He wasn't sure what to do, so he just stayed quiet, not knowing what to say. He quickly downed the drink he held, and his eyes felt magically connected to Athena, who was still with Gideon.
"You know, Athena." Gideon slurred, grinning down at the girl, "as far as I'm enjoying this, your friend has been staring at me the whole time."
"What friend?" Athena giggled, looking around.
Eventually she spotted James, who looked far from a happy mood; and in fact, staring at them.
"I recken he fancies you," Gideon said. Although he wasn't looking at James.
"Potter doesn't fancy me," Athena rolled her eyes.
Gideon's grin widened, "I never mentioned his name."
Oh no.
"W-what?"
"Oh, Athena." Gideon smirked, "looks like you fancy James Potter."
"I do not!"
Gideon's hands rose to rest on the sides of her waist, and he squeezed them gently, his face only a few inches from hers. "I don't believe you."
A low, muffled groan escaped his lips when she attacked her lips on his. Gideon immediately complied and kissed her back, pulling her closer so that her front was glued to his chest.
Athena's hands slowly went from around his neck, towards the back of his red hair, pulling it for more entrance in his mouth and making him moan against the kiss.
