Esme Panchek
Latrines should be considered a fucking sin against God and Esme didn't even believe in that guy... They were disgusting, slimy and there were so many bugs, but there was no use in trying to sneak into the mess hall to use the actual bathrooms in the middle of the night, they locked the doors... Either way, it was the worst experience she'd had so far at camp, she regretted it and never wanted to talk about it again... Now she just had to get back to her cabin completely unnoticed.
"Panchek. What are you doing out of your cabin? It's past curfew." Esme jumped, placing a hand over her racing heart as she turned around to see one of the counselors leaning against a tree near the latrine... God, what was his name? Reggie. He'd been a dick to her multiple times at this point, she was content on never knowing his name really.
She sighed and shrugged, looking down at her pajama pants and shirt under her sweatshirt... Did he really not know? Clearly she was committing armed robbery, stupid question.
"I wonder what I could possibly be doing walking out of the latrine... Obviously I was committing crimes in the bathroom." She said, keeping her voice monotone, but his distrusting look never left his face. Seriously? God, why was she wasting her humor on a man without the sense of one?
"..." Esme rolled her eyes and sighed, running a hand through her hair with a grimace. She had to take a shower in the morning... She'd just steal Emma's shampoo again, she never seemed to notice, that would be fine.
"I was taking a piss. Is that allowed, warden?" Esme asked, keeping her tone sickeningly sweet. Reggie sighed and shook his head, crossing his arms across his chest... He was one of the counselors who seemed to forget that they weren't cops, and aside from being able to make them sleep in a tent for four days without any blankets, there was nothing they could actually do to them.
"Try to hold it until morning next time." She tried to not laugh at that, she really did... Did he not understand the risk to someone's health of doing that? Was he stupid? Obviously if that wasn't dangerous, she would've.
"Yeah, I'll do that." She looked over at him and shook her head... Nope, she couldn't not say it. "And then you can pay for the antibiotics from the UTI I'd get... Dick." Esme was careful to mumble the last part under her breath as she started walking backwards away from him. Apparently, she hadn't mumbled the last part quietly enough for him to not hear, because she saw him set his jaw as he leaned away from the tree, his fist clenched... Mmm... Yeah, that image didn't scare her at all... No, she was shaking inside because it was cold.
"Back to your cabin, Panchek. Now." Yeah, she was doing that. She turned around and started walking the correct way so that she wouldn't trip over a tree root and break her goddamn foot or something... They were very easy to miss in the dark and she didn't want the fate of her health left in the hands of Reggie, she'd probably die.
"I'm going." Apparently her brisk pace was not enough for him, she should've been running.
"Walk faster." Asshole. She started to jog, cutting into the darkness of the woods when she was sure that he couldn't see her anymore... A little walk would probably do her good, she wasn't tired anyway, and it was nice when no one was around. She walked around for a few minutes as her eyes fully adjusted to the dark of the forest before she saw a blonde figure sitting on a stump, and embers in the dark... Shit... A counselor?
She snuck closer, making out the person's face... Tegan. Oh, thank fucking god. She straightened up, clearing her throat to alert her that she was approaching.
