Y/N rested her head against a small window in her room, looking out into the bright, bustling streets of London. It was a warm August day, and there was a pleasant breeze. She got up and walked across her small but cozy room to her wardrobe to get her favorite navy blue hoodie, which had small silver stars she had embroidered on about a year ago. Her tawny owl, Nova, chirped impatiently.

"You'll get your food just give me a second!" Y/N said, annoyed. She fished Nova's food out of her trunk and tossed it to her through the cage.

Y/N's room had lilac walls covered in posters, letters from friends, and photos. Her ceiling had lots in muggle fairy lights. Here and there were the occasional magical and non-magical plants, and on her ceiling were drawings she had made when she was younger. She had a queen-sized bed with big fluffy comforters and colorful pillows, and she also had a small dresser, on top of which was a mirror, old abandoned red, blue and purple nail polish, which had been gifted to her a few years ago, probably an old birthday present from a forgotten muggle acquaintance.

Y/N opened her sticker-ridden door and walked as fast as she could towards the door which led out of her apartment, to avoid her screaming parents. Their fighting had gotten worse this summer; she would wake up to them arguing about the smallest things, like where one had left the butter, and sometimes she couldn't sleep at night because of their yelling, and her little brother would come into her room embracing her and hiding from the world.

She closed the door behind her and walked downstairs, opening the door out of the building. Y/N shielded her eyes against the sun and began to walk down the street, weaving her way through businessmen in smooth black suits and noisy children holding ice cream cones. She walked mindlessly, with no clue where she was going; she just needed to distract herself. She couldn't stop thinking about her parents' constant fighting. Her sadness, anger, and fear about her parents had mixed with how much she missed her best friends, Hermione, Ron, and Harry, and formed a tight knot of emotions in her chest. She couldn't wait to see them; she had been writing to them almost daily, at least four times a week. She knew Harry was in Diagon Alley this very moment, because he had written to her just a day ago about how he blew up his Aunt Marge and gone on this crazy purple bus called the Knight Bus, running away to the Leaky Cauldron and nearly getting expelled from Hogwarts, but said he would give her more details when they saw each other again. Suddenly, she had an idea. How had she not thought of this before? Y/N lived in London! She could be with Harry right this moment.

How could I be so stupid?! She thought.

She made a beeline for the train that would lead her to the Leaky Cauldron without a second thought, forgetting that her trunk and her owl were still in her house, her mind only on Harry.

A/N  SO.
What did you guys think?
I know this first chapter is really short and nothing has really happened yet, but it's mostly like an intro, and next chapter Y/N will meet up with Harry, Ron and Hermione, so it will be more interesting and much longer
I have so many ideas for this fic and I'm so excited to continue writing it!!
