*Shawn's POV*

I have everything. The coolest friends. The best girlfriend. The most expensive car. The best parties. I'm a sure-shot for homecoming king, even if I'm only a junior.

I am the king of the school. None of the seniors even come close to comparing to me. The jocks follow me around and follow my every command.

No, I didn't get here just by accident. Well maybe a little. But I've had to work hard to keep my muscles rock-hard, scrounge money off my mom, and find a little nerd to do my homework while I'm out with my girlfriend. Well maybe that last part wasn't too hard, there's this kid , Oliver, he follows me around trying to get in with "The Crew" - he's not even good enough to sit at my feet. But he gets all A's on my homework so I allow him to sit at the table BESIDE mine.

I have the hottest girlfriend. I only date her to look good. All I want is a Barbie doll on my arm and she's the closest there is. She always talks about eventually getting married- psht...yeah right! That's funny! I keep her around because I don't want to be a girlfriend-less loser (like Oliver) and she looks great in a bikini.

My friends are awesome. They are cool but not cooler than me. I have a few loser friends that I only hang out with when I want to look really good.

And I'm all ready ready for college. I don't need to worry about money and scholarships...I already have football, baseball, basketball, and academic (thanks to Oliver) scholarships.

I bask in the glory of my life for just a few more seconds then I'm brought back to the present. My friends and I are sitting around our lunch table in the very middle of the cafeteria. The surrounding tables have other jocks and wannabes, including Oliver. The tables outside of them contain the "cool nerds" aka the nerds who'll do our homework for cheap. On the very outskirts of the cafeteria are the people ,who read books and don't talk, and the super geeks ,who sit a talk about Star Wars and Star Trek and scream, "May the force be with you," before exams start.

"Dude! Dude!" Pete scream-whispers at me.

"What!!" I scream-whisper back at him.

"What are you doing? We been talking to you for the past ten minutes and you haven made a sound."

"Sorry dude. Just thinking."

"About what?"

"Uhhhh...I heard there's a new girl," I quickly think of.

"Ooo what does she look like?" Pete says with a gleam in his eye.

"Ben says she's really hot."

"Yes! We should add her to our date list," he says as he pumps his fist.

"Definitely!" I know he'll never know that there isn't really a new girl- well not that I know of- because our school has over a thousand kids. One girl isn't gonna make a difference.

The bell rings for lunch to end and we all get up and lead the herd of people out of the lunch room as usual. I nod at familiar faces as they pass by. I'm too busy watching for my friends to see a small girl step out in front of me. I almost trip over her.

"Owwwwww," a quiet voice says.

A plain-looking girl is lying on the ground in front of me.

"Don't get in my way!" I scream at her.

"Sorry, sorry!" she says and I see tears in her eyes.

I pick her up roughly and push her against the wall so I can walk past. I hear her whimper as I go by. Ha, like I care!
