Chapter 9 - You're Not Sorry

Nina was staring out the window one afternoon. She was so bored. She tried reading her favorite book but she did not understand a word. She also can't go out with Alex because he was not in town. He visited his grandmother in North Carolina. He'll be back tomorrow, he said. She also can't hang out at Ian's because things were not the same since last week happened. They never talked after that incident. How dare he do that to her! She was more than just hurt. Not just because he kissed her but mostly because of the words he said.

Luckily, Julianne was there for her (though not physically).

*Flashback*

"What's wrong?" Jules asked on the phone. A couple of minutes after Ian left, she called Julianne. She desperately needed someone to talk to.

"Jules, Ian kissed me."

"What?" The girl on the other line shrieked.

"He did. He got mad because he saw me and Alex kissing."

"WHAT? What's this? I've been there for three years, nothing happened. Now that I'm not around for a day, you've been kissed by two hunks?! I don't know if I should be happy or mad. But wait," she paused. "He got angry because he saw you kissing? Maybe he's jealous?"

"Of course not! He said it himself. He's just one fucking selfish bastard. He told me to break up with Alex  simply because he doesn't like him. See how fucked-up he is? And I don't know how to break up with Alex. I mean, I didn't even know he's my boyfriend." She added shyly.

"What?" Jules laughed hard. "Seriously?"

"We go out on dates, yes. That means we're dating. But does that also imply that I'm his girlfriend?"

Instead of answering, the other girl continued laughing.

"Shut up Jules. Nobody warned me about being somebody's girlfriend."

"Okay, chill." Jules laughter subsided. "So, how did you react when the-guy-you-were-dating-but-you-didn't-think-was-your-boyfrined kissed you?"

"Okay, are you trying to piss me off?"

"No, no, no. I was just asking okay? Mere curiosity. Besides, I don't know how or what to call him."

"Call him Alex then." She rolled her eyes though Julianne couldn't see her.

"Fine. Whatever. Just go on okay? Pretend that I didn't say that."

She sighed. "Well, I didn't slap him. I've never slapped anyone – anyone but Ian, anyway. I didn't kiss him back, of course. I mean, how would I know how to? I've only read those things in novels but I've never been in that situation. So when he was... errr, done, I took a step back and – I didn't know why but I did it – I cried."

"You cried? You cried after being kissed? After your first kiss?" Julianne began to laugh again.

Instead of being pissed, Nina joined her.

When they both stopped laughing, Julianne continued, "So, you went home after crying?"

Nina began to feel sick again. It just happened a few hours ago and she's still not over it.
