Those who had known Yuto for a long time had always seen him as the kind of person who made the minimum effort to achieve decent goals. During PE, he kept to the minimum to get a pass, and during the theoretical lessons, his grades were normal. He wasn't the type to stand out.

However, now that he had dropped the mask he was wearing daily, he honestly felt freer. He was simply himself.

"What the hell's the point of enrolling in a military school if he could stand up to an entire platoon?" Aino murmured perplexed as Yuto knocked out another apprentice knight.

The feeling was shared by the rest of the class. Unlike many who had just started training, Yuto was years ahead and most likely was already ready for the battlefield. The only reason he wasn't on the front line was that Yuto didn't want any different treatment.

"I wonder where he learned to use the sword?" Taro said enviously.

Unlike Yuto, he had been practising kendo since middle school and he was considered such a talent that he became a regional champion in his second year.

Yuto had learned to use the sword through memories of his mother during her apprenticeship as a knight and after she extracted Caliburn from the pedestal in which it had been kept. However, no one knew this as well as no one knew that his biological mother was King Arthur.

"Yo Emiya, it looks like they aren't worthy opponents at all," Pierce commented, coming forward boldly. "Would you like to challenge someone better?"

The Lutgard family was not simply a family with the rank of duke. They were also a family of knights whose history dated back to the founding of the kingdom. Its history told that the first King was a powerful magician while Pierce's ancestor and founder of the House of Lutgard, Alan Lutgard, was blessed by the God of War.

"Why don't we both get serious?" Pierce proposed and drew his sword.

"Are you sure you want this?" Yuto wasn't sure it was wise. He didn't know how strong and skilled Pierce was, but what Yuto knew was that he could kill someone if he tried his best.

"Of course. It wouldn't make sense if we restrained ourselves," Pierce replied.

Yuto was far beyond the capabilities of the cadets and Pierce had noticed this as well as noticed that Yuto had always restrained himself so as not to hurt others too much.

"Fine," Yuto gave up, tracing a copy of Pierce's sword, which was extremely surprising. "So, shall we begin?"

Those who knew Pierce and his family smiled, believing it would be a formality for him to win, however, they had not considered one thing. Yuto wasn't a beginner.

"Prepare yourself!" Yuto seemed to fade from view, but he had simply moved faster than the human eye could perceive, reappearing before his opponent and swinging his sword upwards.

Pierce coughed his body to dodge, but he lost his balance when Yuto tripped him from behind, causing him to fall. Yuto grabbed Pierce's sword and pointed it at his opponent.

"Checkmate," Yuto said, then returned the sword to its owner and let the copy fade into mana particles. "Hmm... I apologise."

"You win. You don't need to apologise," Pierce said confused.

Yuto nodded. "You asked for an honest fight but I still restrained myself."

"If the reason is that in addition to speed, you also have monstrous strength, then I understand the reason," Pierce said reasonably while accepting Yuto's help to get up. "But the question remains. Why did you join this academy? Your skills are far beyond ours."
