IT'S IRONIC, ISN'T IT? (NAME) craved relationships with other people, and despite mostly blaming Katsuki for scaring everyone away, all this time (name) did nothing to retaliate. He quietly sat there, glued to his brother's side, allowing everything to happen because he was still the closest person (name) had to a friend. I mean, if there wasn't anyone else, then why not just have your own family member as insurance?

The thing is, (name) managed to make friends all on his own from day one.

And look where that got him?

Katsuki's manifested hate for Izuku strengthened every time he received (name)'s smile. Eijiro hugging (name) aggravated him. Fumikage easily becoming close to (name) frustrated him.

But they were still (name)'s friends who he cherished deeply...as deeply as he cherished Katsuki since they became brothers all that time ago while still oh so young. One shyly smiled behind his mother's legs; the other, stationary, uncharacteristically stuttered "hello" which their parents called "the most adorable family interaction they've seen". Later their parents left them upstairs. They stayed quiet, the shy child meekly running around the room. His smile enlarged with each passing moment. The other watched, for some odd reason, entranced. They shared goodbyes, the shy one no longer shy, and hugged his cousin before leaving.

Three years passed, and the shy one returned a lifeless zombie. Emotion devoiced him, no crying matched his aunt and uncle's as they hugged him tightly.

Katsuki developed love and admiration ― relatively positive feelings ― alongside jealousy, and sorrow ― relatively negative feelings ― that (name) unknowingly helped in. Protection was a bigger attained commodity.

He didn't want (name) reverting to a depressed self-loather Katsuki's heart broke the first time he saw him in such a state. He remembered he used to see fascination shine through his then-cousin's eyes, but by then, they were nothing more than soulless pits. Therefore, attaching himself to (name) while keeping others away from him would protect his feeble cousin from further heartache.

But even so, repressed knowledge said there's another, bigger reason dominating Katsuki's chivalrous ideals. It was a selfish reason so far along Katsuki had no problem admitting since he is (name)'s brother earlier on, but he's regrettably realizing it wasn't good he's been selfish this entire time if it meant interfering with (name)'s independence.

Jealousy simply prevailed. It was the reason Katsuki ever only wished he and (name) would be together forever.

II'm the stupid one... Katsuki quietly sobs to himself. II ruined my chances. I fucked everything up. Recovery Girl left Katsuki alone to rest off his nose injury. Luckily, Izuku didn't punch him too hard causing disfigurement. Nonetheless, pain tingled his facial muscles Katsuki's crying worsened. Shit... Katsuki cups his gauze-covered nose. I...ruined his life.

"Katsuki?" His eyes widened dramatically hearing his voice. He came, he's here, Katsuki thought increasingly overjoyed like he wasn't about to cry. "Are you alright? I...heard what happened." (name)'s expression fell solemn. "I should yell at you because this wouldn't have happened if you didn't always resort to violence." (name) takes a seat next to Katsuki's bed. "But I won't. I'm too shocked to be mad." He sighs. "Izuku actually saying those things then punching you..."

"Wh― what things?!" Katsuki straightens his back. His cheeks go ablaze thinking (name) possibly heard what Izuku said about (name) never loving Katsuki.

"Whoa, take it easy," (name) defensively raises his hands. "You shouldn't be moving too much. Recovery Girl mentioned you lost a good amount of blood, and you were lucky your nose wasn't broken." Mentioning it reminds the blonde of the pain mostly in his nose area. "Yaoyorozu-san told me that Izuku said something...about you're the reason I'm lonely."

"Oh." Katsuki mutters. "Wait! Why the Hell were you talking to her?!"

"She appeared in the cafeteria while Fumikage, Eijirō, and I were finding a place to sit." (name) looks at Katsuki's bandaged nose. "She said Izuku punched you. I would've visited you earlier, but Recovery Girl was still taking care of you."

"What about classes?"

"Since Aizawa-sensei stopped the fight, he told me it'd be fine if I skipped the next period to make sure you're okay." Katsuki couldn't feel happier nobody else intruded on their peaceful evening. Together. Alone.

All I ever truly wanted. He let himself smile a little. Only for (name).

"Anyway, do you...feel okay? I― I mean, other than your nose...a― are you good?"

Cheeks burning hotter Katsuki wrapped his arms tightly around his adopted brother's neck. "I― I am...because you're with me..." he softly whispers into (name)'s neck. His heart skips a beat when he feels (name)'s arms slowly hug his waist, returning the physical gesture they don't share too often. Katsuki slowly backs away. His chest heavies. "I― I always feel better when you're with me...."

Their eyes connected so (name) has a full view of the other's shaking eyes, red face, and small smile gracing his lip.

I...Katsuki sharply inhales. "I love you."
