The Tinder Box (5,2)

The Azgeda archers had long given up on aiming their bows on the Skaukru soldiers above and Tyra in their path, but the Trikru warrior still held her position straight during her stare-off with Echo. The Azgeda spy hadn't looked away from her since Roan had disappeared, and she hadn't seen Tyra's bow falter for even a fraction of a second—if Tyra wasn't Echo's sworn enemy she would've admired the Trikru warrior for her resilience.

The stare-off was soon broken after the Azgeda archers began to raise their bows yet again, Tyra looking over her shoulder expecting to spot Clarke or Roan coming back out and finishing their negotiations, but it turned out to be Monty with his arms raised.

"Hey, stop. I'm unarmed. I need to talk to whoever's in charge." Just as Monty passed by her, Tyra stepped in his way, still aiming at Echo while she spoke over her shoulder to Monty.

"What are you doing?"

"Riley's trying to kill Roan." Tyra had no idea who Riley was, but if he was trying to kill Roan and Monty knew them by name, it could only mean whoever he was a Skaikru gone rogue.

Monty kept walking before Tyra finally released her arrows to place them back in the holster she slung over her shoulder to follow the Skaikru man, her bow still tightly gripped by her side as she stalked behind Monty who had been pushed to his knees beside Bellamy and Marcus while Echo slid off her horse.

"Speak."

"One of our people has moved out of formation. I've reason to believe he's trying to kill your king." Echo eyed Tyra, as if she'd give her the answer if it was false or not. But the Trikru woman was just as lost as she was.

"Why are you telling me this?" Bellamy scoffed, allowing Tyra to spot the scratch along his cheek. It was fully coagulated and no longer spilled blood, but Tyra could guess who had caused it in the first place, and it took every fibre in her being not to stab Echo right then and there.

"Why do you think he's telling you this? He's trying to stop a massacre."

"Who is it?"

"Riley." Tyra didn't miss the completely dumbfounded look Bellamy gave Monty. Whoever the Riley person was really meant trouble.

"Riley? He shouldn't even be here."

"That seems to be the consensus." Growing tired of their antics, Echo went back to her horse to grab her sword, pointing at two other free warriors.

"You and you, come with me. Let's go."

"Wait! If our snipers see archers on the move, they'll open fire. Tell her." Monty nodded feverishly.

"Those are our orders."

"I will not allow my king to be assassinated."

"He doesn't have to be. I know Riley. Let me and Tyra come with you. We can stop him." Tyra didn't precisely know why Bellamy was adding her into the mix. She suspected it had something to do with her being able to kill or disable someone from miles away while he couldn't, or there was also the possibility he didn't want to leave Tyra behind to face an entire army of Azgeda on her own.

"Do you think me a fool, Bellamy?"

"You are one." Echo brought up her sword to aim at Tyra while the Trikru warrior grabbed the hilt of her own sword by her side, both taking threatening steps towards the other before Bellamy's chains clinked and brought them out of their stare off yet again.

"You'd be a dead fool if you step out of this kill box without us. Use Monty's radio and let Kane tell them we're working together to find Riley, and they'll let us pass." Echo scoffed, holstering her sword back by her side.
