Yes, it is a late review. However, this was probably the biggest hit of 2022, without any big stars or directors. I couldn't miss it!
Probably the most relatable yet most toxic film...
Title- Love today
The Film Stars- Pradeep Ranganathan, Yogi Babu, Ivana, Radhika, and Sathyaraj
Director- Pradeep Ranganathan
Music- Yuvan Shankar Raja
The film revolves around Pradeep and Nikita. A very lovey-dovey couple but the plot isn't that straightforward. After Nikitha's dad finds out about her secret relationship, he invites her boyfriend (Pradeep) over for a chat. The series of events eventually lead the two main leads to switch their phones. Initially, the immense trust they had for each other prevents them from unlocking each other's phone but soon that trust is shattered as well. The story takes a major plot twist when secrets are revealed and perhaps they realize that their partner wasn't as perfect as they thought they would be. The story is mostly based on the boy's perspective of a relationship and Pradeep's character is probably the most relatable and hilarious character in the film. I personally loved the actor's performance and I thought it was a bold topic to convey in the film. Parallelly, you have yogi babu's love track that shows another angle of relationships and overall the film depicts the idea of dating in the 21st century.
However, I personally think that the humor was great but at the same time, it overpowered the actual message of the film. For me, I thought the ending justified the toxicity and how they completely let loose that Nikita went on a long drive with her ex, and Pradeep asked for 'pics' from random girls. After all that, should they really still be together? The screenplay was fast and the film's main drive was the humor and the relatable dialogues. Yuvan's music was the cherry on the cake, his music elevated each and every scene. First half, the screenplay took time to pick up and the second half flew by way too quickly. I feel like they could have broken more things down in the second half as there was way too much happening and it got quite suffocating at this point.
Ravi. Sorry, Revi and Nikita had the most toxic friendship in my opinion. How is she still friends with him after he proposed😭? yet revi was another character added to add humor. However, something I didn't like was when Pradeep forced nikitha to cover her hip because revi was looking? she can wear whatever she wants and it was revi's fault for looking. I personally disliked that about the film.
Mamakutty added great humor and I certainly enjoyed the scene where Pradeep finds out about him despite how toxic his character was. His acting in that scene really made us all laugh and feel bad for him at the same time.
Age rating? - Netflix gives this film a rating of 15. I agree, no one under the age of 15 should be seeing this film as there are some adultery content and the language used is not so age appropriate.
acting?- everyone excelled in their roles, and everyone was perfect for their roles. I couldn't imagine anyone else for Pradeep role.
Music? - from ennai vittu to mamakutty the music was excellent and like I said before it elevated the film. Loved the BGMs and songs. saachitaley was not necessarily needed in the film in my opinion.
Ratings
