"Oh-ángel?" The prey who hit his head while falling down a few steps of stairs, escaping from Vrexdius is now speaking nonsense upon seeing me.

"Sí" I answered and sucked his soul away into the sealed capsule.

"Pft- you do know you just admit you're an angel to him don't you?" Vrex continued to giggle.

"Oh- it's the only Spanish word I know. Why are we in Spain again?" Embarrassed, I tried to change the topic.

"Wasn't it obvious? Ángel and angel? Hah-" He's still laughing.

"Ugh- no it doesn't. Sounded more like an ankle to me. How would I know? Can we get past this?" I reasoned.

"Excuses!" Vrex exclaimed. "I bet he died thinking an angel came to collect his soul," he continued, obviously still not past it.

"Do I look like an angel? Have you seen an angel?" I asked. Well, I do fairly think I am pretty.

"No, hmm," Vrex stared at my face, observing every inch of my features. "You do have quite a pretty face for a demon... Why aren't you a succubus?" He said, smirking.

'Sc-succubus?! I swear one of these days, I'll need to cut him into pieces.' Giving him a smile I pierced him with a blade of fire. Watching him spitting blood from his mouth was satisfying enough.

"Ha! This won't be enough to kill me, Aerginuth."

True. As soon as I dispersed the blade of fire, he was already almost fully healed. Man, how much vitality does he have?

"But it hurts, doesn't it?" I asked, still smiling, this time in satisfaction.

"I hate you." He said.

"I hate you too," I said back. The talk with The Lord yesterday is still stuck in my mind. I wanted to ask Vrex about it, but decided not to. After all, I don't know which family he is from. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen him using his attribute.

Soon after, a piece of letter shadowed in between us. A warp spell. Shadows are from the reigning pure-blood. Vrex took it and read the letter.

"Invitation to a throne duel between Deoline Korchgan and Toleo Morzal."

"Why would anyone in their right mind challenge a direct descendant of the King to a throne duel?" Losing to a throne duel means losing your life. Either you die in the duel or you get executed later on for doubting the royalties.

"I'm guessing the Morzals think a female successor is too weak for the throne and Toleo here might have pulled the short straw," Vrex explained. "Wanna go watch?" He asked. I nodded and Vrex took hold of my hand. Closing his eyes, he chanted a teleportation spell. "To Ruler's Central, Elournach." Hearing that, I closed my eyes and slowly felt my surroundings shifting. The silent alley before is now a bustling alley.

Opening my eyes, the wall of bricks surrounded me earlier is now an endless sea of demons. The King really sent this invitation to everyone huh? "And it's even broadcasted," I muttered as I saw the huge hologram screen in the air. "What did you say?" Vrex raised his voice next to my ear. I shook my head in response. Most present here in the Plaza are probably just thirsty for the fight. But there are some who care for the outcome.

WOAHH!

The cheers of the people roared through the air. In the screen, a female with an ambiance of blue dark hair and a pair of big curled up horns is holding a male by his neck with one hand while the other is slowly conjuring the blade of shadows. Deoline clearly has Toleo by the throat now. Toleo tries to escape her grip but it seems to be a futile effort. Anytime now.

WOAHHH!

The crowd roared again as Deoline's blade of shadow pierced through Toleo's chest, right through the heart. As blood escaped through the pierced hole on his chest and his mouth, she released her grip and a glimpse of satisfaction flashed on her face. Toleo's body slumped to the ground. Unmoving.

Deoline Korchgan won.

"Guess that's all for the show," Vrex said. "I just got a message that we are summoned by the leader. We should get going now," he continued. But that's not all. The crowds are screaming, "KILL. KILL. KILL."

On the hologram screen, Deoline pulled the head of the still body by the hair, raising it by a few inches from the ground, and sliced through the neck with her blade. Unattached, she raised the head up in the air for all to see. The angle of the scene adjusted to a wider view. The ground is covered in black liquid, blood. The crowds scream again, this time in an uproar of victory as if they were battling themselves.

"She has what it takes. Come on, let's get moving." Vrex raised his voice to my ears in the middle of this loud crowd.

The leader of the Soul Division II. The one that receives direct orders from the king himself. 'Why are we summoned? What is this now?' I let out a sigh. I nodded–a sign of being ready. Vrex teleported us near the appointed location. An open land filled with sand. We're at the Deshra, a territory of no life. No water, not a single creature. Some say this place was cursed that whoever came here would die. Of course it's nothing like a fatal curse or anything, it's just a matter of survivability (At least that's what I think). A group of people could be seen a few yards from where we're standing.

"Why not just send us right to the spot?" I asked, seeing as he teleported us quite a distance from the location.

"The thing is... I can't. The leader must have set up a barrier."

"A secret meeting with teleportation barriers in Deshra... wonder what grand operation we'll discuss about."

"We'll know when we get there."

For the rest of the distance, we walked and soon a group of people with the same uniform as us could be seen clearer. Entering the barrier, I could make out some of the recognizable faces from the academy. Seems like the leader still hasn't arrived.

We walked to approach and join the group when suddenly a blinding light came surged from the sky. The light started thin, growing thicker by radius fast. There's a piercing sound coming with the light. Unable to outrun the light, Vrexdius covered me in his arms and wings, and I caught a glimpse of a water shield breaking at the touch of the light right in front of us. Crouched and in panic, I cast a shield around us. A shield of a power I was made to promise to never use in front of anyone. A shield of shadow.
