Metropolis
(Week timeskip)
The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm, golden light across the room. You were still half-asleep, cocooned in the blankets, when you heard the door creak open. There was a brief pause, followed by a light rustle and—
Thud!
A sudden weight landed on the bed, jostling you awake. Kara had jumped onto the mattress with a huge grin, her usual spark of energy tempered by something softer today.
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" she said brightly, though there was a warmth in her tone that made the wake-up call feel more like a request than a command. She leaned closer, her blonde hair falling around her shoulders. "You promised me coffee, remember?"
You blinked groggily, trying to shake off the haze of sleep. "Kara...?" you mumbled, still a bit disoriented. "What are you doing?"
She shifted, settling on the bed beside you, looking down at you with a gentle smile. "I didn't want to wait all day for you to get up," she said, her voice lighter. "We talked about grabbing coffee yesterday, and I thought... well, you're gonna love the place, so why not go today?"
You exhaled, rubbing the sleep from your eyes, a small grin tugging at the corner of your mouth. "I don't remember agreeing to this..."
Kara laughed, the sound soft but genuine. "You didn't say no, so that counts for something." She nudged you lightly, her eyes gleaming with playful affection. "C'mon, Y/n. It's just coffee... with me. And it's way better than staying in bed all day like a grumpy old man."
You stretched lazily, feeling your wings shift beneath the covers. "But I am a grumpy old man," you teased, leaning into the familiar banter. "A few more hours of sleep wouldn't hurt, you know."
Kara shook her head with an amused sigh, but there was a touch of something fond in her expression. "I figured you'd say that. But I've got Clark making bacon and eggs in the kitchen," she said, giving you a knowing look. "So you don't really have an excuse, do you?"
Her enthusiasm was hard to resist, and you found yourself smiling despite the protest forming on your lips. "Alright, alright," you said with mock defeat, sitting up slowly. "You win."
"Obviously," Kara said with a triumphant smirk, hopping off the bed and flashing you a look as if to say, See? I knew you couldn't resist. "Now hurry up and get dressed. I'll meet you in the kitchen."
A few minutes later, you found yourself in the kitchen, the smell of sizzling bacon and eggs greeting you as you walked in. Clark stood by the stove, flipping the bacon expertly with a spatula. He glanced over as you entered, a smile tugging at his lips.
"Morning, Y/n," he said, turning the bacon over with a casual grace. "Kara didn't wake you up too rudely, did she?"
"Not too rudely," you said with a smirk, giving Kara a sideways glance. "Just enough to get me out of bed."
Kara shrugged, looking unbothered as she slid into a seat at the table. "Hey, I'm just making sure you don't waste the day sleeping. I'm doing you a favor," she said, giving you a playful smile before glancing at Clark. "He would've stayed in bed all day if it weren't for me."
Clark chuckled as he started plating the food. "Well, now that you're up, there's plenty to eat."
You sat down across from Kara, the warmth of the kitchen settling over you both. Kara's energy was infectious, and you could feel your grogginess fading with each moment. She tapped her fingers lightly on the table, her gaze soft but eager as she looked at you.
