Elena
"I swear on my life I didn't steal your food" Elena tried to plead her innocence at the missing food from Tommy's plate as he returned from the restroom.
"Oh yes very believable" Tommy deadpanned as he sat back at the bar and inspected what was left of his plate.
"I was gone for 3 minutes El, you nearly cleared the whole thing," he said stabbing the last sad vegetable.
"I was hungry," she said feeling a bit bad. She didn't like Tommy paying for everything, so when he offered her lunch, she declined, but with a plate full of food sitting in front of her, she couldn't stop herself.
"No worries, we can just get a second one," he said pulling out his wallet just like she had wanted to avoid.
"I can pay- " she started going for her purse when she noticed a man approaching the two.
"Mr. Shelby?" the man said as he took an empty seat on the other side of Tommy.
"Who's asking?" Tommy answered clearly annoyed to have their lunch interrupted.
"My name is Byrne. I had word from your man in Camden Town that you wanted to parley," he said.
"Then parley it is," Tommy answered pulling out a cigarette to have a smoke as he clearly was not having lunch soon. He offered one to Elena but she declined.
"Is she staying?" Byrne asked meeting her eyes clearly wanting to have a more private conversation. Elena turned to grab her purse so she could leave when she felt Tommy's hand on her thigh.
"She stays if she wants to stay," Tommy said meeting her eyes. He was making an effort to include her in business dealings when she wanted to be involved. She flashed a quick smile at the man before relaxing back into the seat.
"A few months ago a man named Ryan came to this place with a view to buying some goods from you. Mr. Ryan was met with an accident, he was shot. He was a man with a quick mouth. I know that. I wondered if he had made any enemies in here" Byrne continued. Elena wasn't surprised to hear about a shooting, it happened nearly every day around here. Elena did however notice Grace looking alarmed at what the man was saying which made her very suspicious that the police or at least Grace had something to do with it.
"None that I know of" Tommy answered.
"All are welcome here, Mr. Byrne " Elene added trying to end the questioning. She knew the Peaky Blinders weren't involved so he wasn't likely to find answers here.
"Including Irish?" he questioned again.
"Especially Irish" Tommy replied.
"Ryan told you he was a member of the Irish Republican Army. Was he still welcome?" Byrne continued pressing.
