Walking along the sidewalk neither boys had started up any conversation until Bruce spoke up. "You seem to reallyy like this shop huh" was followed by Vance smiling at him. "i guess so, my mum used to take me here alot when i was younger". Vance pushed the one of the two glass doors open, a dinging sound echoed above them, traveling throughout the entire store. Vance immediately went straight to the pinball machine only to realise he had no spare change on him. "need some change? here" Bruce said pulling out a few quarters and offering them to Vance. "yeah, thanks". He took the quarters from Bruce's hand and inserted a couple into the machine, the game buzzed up in flashing colours and music. Vance was very careful playing, almost like his life depends on him winning. Bruce stood nearby, watching as Vance strategically moved the game sticks in a way that seemed effortless.

After around half an hour went past Vance decided that he was done for the day and turned to find Bruce who now wasn't standing by him anymore. He began walking down the back of the isles, looking for Bruce. He quickly found him talking to the cashier and made his way over. He overheard Bruce thanking the elderly women and turned to Vance. "Oh hey, you finished playing?" Bruce spoke lightly stuffing some snacks into a bag. "Yeah, what's that for?" Vance asked gesturing to the bag. "Oh, i was thinking we could go to the park and hang out for abit" Bruce answered making his way for the glass doors. Vance nodded and pushed the doors open.

Walking down the street was quiet,  the only noise being a few cars going by and the sound of the pebble Vance was kicking, hitting along the ground as he walked. They had reached the park and found a nice bench to sit at. "Wanna sit by the tree over there instead? The suns burning my fucking eyes" Vance asked squinting his eyes slightly at the sky, using his hand as a shield. Bruce gave out a couple giggles at the others face but complied nonetheless. Sitting under the tree was better for Vance, well, Vances eyes. The plastic bag crinkled against the grass as Bruce sat it down between them, looking out at the wind lightly blowing the grass blades side to side. Vance reached his hand into the bag and brought out a bottle of water swiftly taking a sip. He held the bottle in his hand as he looked up at Bruce. "Wanna skip school tomorrow" he asked nonchalantly. "Definitely not my parents would kill me if they found out i skipped. You shouldn't be skipping either!!" Bruce began lecturing Vance on his poor attendance. "Fine fine ill go more" Vance said rolling his eyes sarcastically with a grin. "Did you just roll your eyes at me" Bruce landed his hand on his chest dramatically, acting offended. "watcha gonna do about it huh golden boy" Vance answered smiling. Bruce lunged over onto him, knocking over Vance so he was lying down. Both boys sat there for a moment, Bruce hovering above him before they burst out into laughter. Bruce rolled down next to the blonde boy and looked up at the sky starting to set, an orangish pink forming.

After they finished their laughing fit the two boys played there in a comfortable silence. "I've never actually heard you laugh properly before, it's adorable" Bruce said with a soft smile, turning his head sideways to meet Vance's eyes. "shut it" Was all Vance said before reaching over and placing a hand on the others mouth to silence him. He was still smiling so he in no way looked intimidating to Bruce. The black haired boy could tell Vance was getting tired, hinted by the small yawns and half closed eyes. He looked back up at the lit up sky, he always loved sunsets even when he was younger. The way all the different colours merged was just so beautiful to him. Bruce realized after a few minutes that Vance's hand was still laying on his face, therefore he reached up grasping the others hand lightly taking it off of his face. Bruce sat up and looked down at Vance who was now asleep. It was getting quite late so Bruce decided to wake him up by tapping his shoulder lightly. Vance stirred awake, still very drowsy. "Its  getting kinda late, wanna just sleep over again?" Bruce asked as Vance slowly got up. "mhm" Vance replied rubbing his eyes with one hand. The boys got up, still hand in hand while Bruce grabbed the bag. Neither of them minded as they walked back to Bruce's home.

They walked into Bruce's room, and Bruce headed straight for the bed as soon as his shoes were off, as did Vance. Bruce began making himself comfortable under the covers while Vance stood by the bed. "You can lay down Vance" Bruce told the boy who was practically almost asleep already, thinking he just needed to be reassured that he was aloud to get into bed. Vance listened and got into bed, falling asleep instantly when his head hit the soft pillows. He shuffled over towards Bruce abit more and laid his head on the boys shoulder, getting comfy with an arm around his waist. Bruce didn't mind at all, as long as Vance was happy he was  happy.

It was around 3:07am when Vance bolted upright in a panicked state, waking Bruce up with the sudden movements. Bruce groggily asked Vance if he was okay, sitting up beside him when he realized he had begun to cry. "hey hey hey, it's okay" Bruce said soothingly, pulling Vance into a light hug, holding his head against his chest. Vance sobbed, gripping onto Bruce's jumper tightly. "It was just a dream you're alright V". He comforted the crying boy until he calmed down, he then laid back down in bed still holding Vance in his arms. Vance relaxed in the other boys arms, falling back asleep as Bruce played  with his hair gently.

Awakening Vance found that he was alone in bed, Bruce no where in sight. He pulled the covers up more, submerging himself in the warmth of the blanket. He tossed himself over, facing the room instead of the wall. Only then he saw Bruce leaving the bathroom. "Morning Blondie" Bruce walked over with a smile. Vance mustered up a small 'hi' but continued shoving his face deeper into the fluffy pillow. Bruce giggled and pulled the covers back earning a small whine from Vance as his heat source had disappeared. Bruce crawled back into bed and pulled the covers back over the both of them, reaching an arm out and around Vances shoulders. "You feeling alright from last night?" Bruce asked. At first Vance was confused and couldn't think of what he was meaning, then he remembered. "Oh. It was nothing, just some stupid nightmare." He said in return, clearly not comfortable with telling Bruce what it was just yet. "It wasn't 'stupid' if you wake up crying because of it, if you don't wanna share what it was about then that's fully up to you but I'm always here if you ever do want to tell me anything." Bruce spoke softly, looking at Vance as he talked. "thanks Yamada". After a few minutes of sitting with each other soaking in all the heat from the covers, they decided it was best to get up seeing as it was almost half past twelve in the afternoon. Vance got ready and grabbed his belongings, then walked downstairs with bruce. "Do you want me to walk you home?" Bruce asked nearing the front door. "if you want to, i don't care" vance replied shrugging his shoulders.

Bruce decided to walk the blonde home anyways. "I would've asked you to stay if my grandparents weren't coming over" Bruce said. "Don't worry about it, we're almost here" Vance replied back, assuring Bruce that he wasn't bothered for having to leave. "Atleast we'll see each other tomorrow at school. And remember Vance, no skipping" Bruce said in a stern voice, then they both giggled abit. "But  seriously V, i wanna see you in class. Its so boring without youu" Bruce leaned over, lightly knocking into Vance. "I'll be there, promise" Vance said smiling, reaching his destination. "Alright good, i suppose I'll see you tomorrow then. Bye V" Bruce gave him a hug and Vance a small goodbye before pulling away and starting to walk back home. Bruce waved as Vance entered his home, Vance copying it back to him.

"VANCE COME HERE RIGHT NOW!!!" Vance's father began to yell from the living room. "Where have you been??! Your mother's been worried SICK because of your ass!!" He yelled, chugging down some beer. "I was at a friends house dad" Vance replied with a quiet voice. "You're such a fucking brat, thinking you can leave and come back at any time you want, i wish you're mother got rid of you when she had the opportunity to." "Now get out of my face, i don't want to see you right now." Vances poor excuse of a father finished speaking. Vance's eyes welled with tears as he ran upstairs and slammed the door shut, locking it behind him. He sunk down to his knees and began crying. He kept swearing to himself that he wouldn't cry over his fathers hurtful words, but he always seems to fail almost everytime. He pulled his knees up to his chest and hugged them tightly, wishing Bruce were here to hug him instead.
